All this talk about DOS, autoexecs, boot disks, SoundBlasters...and the accompanying struggles (!) just make me feel old. I'm 32, this stuff is in my blood. Glad we can pass down something to the kids so they can see computing circa 1992.
iDOS seems to be a lot like Dosbox in that it initially runs tons of shit, but getting anything working really well takes quite a bit of tweaking... Just like running these games when they were actually released. http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Performance
DOS never used to be an ALL CAPS OS. Unix was the case sensitive one and MS DOS didn't care. I guess it is just DOSBox or this implementation of it that is case sensitive.
Not sure why people are having issues with WC2, just about done with the 2nd mission in the Orc campaign as we speak. Core=Dynamic is working for me, seriously, iphone 4 with JB. The game runs full speed with music, and drops to about 90% when theres a lot of action. I recommend using the keypad to play and remapping a lot of the commonly used action keys like attack, move, build etc. Going to change my autoexec to just launch WAR2 on startup, and winterboard my icon to a WC2 icon

Wow, really? I'm surprised that Quake can run while something like Descent, which I tested, runs at roughly 1 frame per 3 seconds.
I've made a little progress getting blake stone to run better. but need more time to mess with it. nothing crazy yet, just disabling some in-game graphic toggles & whatnot.
Just to be clear; it is not legal unless you own a license and your country's copyright doctrine permits you to own archival copies of software.
I have yet to see a game that's 100% playable (with sound and decent performance). My best attempt so far was Settlers, aka Serf City. Also, core=dynamic crashes iDOS right off the bat.
Hah, I'm a total dummy, I can't even follow this. : D The problem is the 'Z:\' part (as I don't know how to write with Z:\ instead of C:\ there ) and the 'go to E:' part (as I don't know how to do that. : D Once this is cleared, I'll shut up. I promise. >.<
Can someone explain this a tad more simpler. Like how do I get to the Z: since it starts on C:? And is FILE.ISO the name of my ISO file?
Come on now. I'm all for nostalgia (I have a mushroom and space invader tattoo for crying out loud) but that's pushing it.
