Any impressions? How does it compare to Mini Motor or other racers of that type?

This game is different from Mini Motor or Vs Racing 2 or Pocket racing 2 mainly with driving, because you have to find the best racing line and the right braking points to get the best times or to win the race.
At first the gameplay may seem difficult, but then after a couple of matchs will give you pleasure. |

As you were kind enough to give me a promo code, I thought I'd leave a review.
The graphics around the tracks are gorgeous. The racing can be quite fun and there's nice variety in tracks and cars. I quite enjoyed the racing I've done, but I'm going to stop now because the game as a whole leaves a lot to be desired. The main problem is that the game is just too hard and unforgiving. I'm on PRO mode (the second hardness) and I find it incredibly hard to beat the computer or beat the time. Because you have to get through a track to try the next one, it becomes tedious as there is no variety (why not unlock more tracks but stop progression until all are beaten? - or go for a more varied results system as with the medals on Reckless Racing?). And because there is no "elastic" with the car you're racing, and because parts of the track slow a car down hugely, one small mistake often means the end of the race in effect. One solution on time trials would be to turn it from three laps to one lap, such that (as with Reckless Racing) a mistake on a lap doesn't mean you have to start again but can complete a flawed lap and then try to beat the required time on the next one. (1) Music turns itself on when I reload the game, even though I turn it off every time. (2) Surely no need to tap again to start the race when I have just tapped restart? (3) Controls are not very customisable, but I prefer the buttons closer together. (4) When the race starts, you can't know which is your car (unless you remembered to look at the pre-race screen). Most driving games get round this problem by identifying you at the start of the race. Overall, I can't help wondering if most of the time on this game went into making it look good. That said, it may simply be that the aim is to make the racing more realistic - if you go off the track, it really would stop you winning the face - in which case I suppose we just have an ideological difference about what we are looking for in a racing game! But even then I feel there are things you could do to make the game more fun and thus sell better. |
