      Actually it is. A boss that gets bigger at the end of each stage... Who could ask for anything else.

      here's my list of faves

      in joint first place: pewpew 2 and meteor blitz
      second place: critical wave.

      I think that to be a real "alternative" it has to be retro neon graphics otherwise we'll end up listing every game in the genre.

      these are the real alternatives.

      I like the first part.
      Hmm critical wave..idk I have every single dual stick mentioned here..and I really just don't find it fun somehow.
