It has ALREADY started in NZ...and you know, humans from that part of the world come to the TA forums as well! There is no reason to wait before this game comes to Lebonan, Europe or the US before people start posting on sales! Also, a one sentence thread is fine. All that needs to be there is the price drop value and a link to the iTunes store if possible - this is not the release thread for God's sakes! VeganTnT Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Jul 19, 2008 4,491 3 0 Freelance Entertainment Analyst Orlando, FL #6 VeganTnT, Dec 19, 2012 FALSE. A one sentence thread start with no link or app info is not ok and will be deleted. It's gotten to the point that people want to be the first to post something that its just "hey, X is on sale but I'm too busy to give you any more information" If that's the case then it's for the best that they not post anything and allow other members the chance to post proper threads. This is especially so now that apple has removed the appshopper app from the appstore which is going to make it harder for newcomers to know about sales. A link is ok but you inly need to wrap it in appinfo tags to make it great. At least with the appinfo you get pictures, description, and it's rating from fellow TA members. I do agree about the post being fine since it's live on the NZ store. While TA is heavily weighted to US users there are plenty of global members. It also helps me start scraping change together for the US sale metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #7 metalcasket, Dec 19, 2012 That's precisely my problem with the whole thing. I get that some of these sales are just insane and people are enthusiastic about them, but it's ridiculous to see thread titles that essentially read "I can't believe this! Why didn't anyone mention this? WHOAMG~! ____________ WILL BE FREEEEEEEEEEEEE~!!!11111!!!!!!1!!!!!(AT SOME POINT...perhaps sooner than later. Maybe? I think.)" with absolutely nothing of value in the OP. If you're hinting that we stop posting about sales that are live but not yet world-wide and available to everyone, then we may as well stop posting the NZ-first new releases as well, and hold off until the games come out everywhere hours later before game-specific threads are made. Far more confusing to a reader unfamiliar with finding their own way to the app store than a simple line of text mentioning that the game is currently on sale for NZ$2.59 is the Appinfo that currently shows the game at $4.99, which not only is in US currency, but also appears to be in direct contradiction to the announcement of the sale being live right now. My main man Greyskull (sorry, I've been watching too many TA Plays videos), was sick with the flu and tried to do his usual thing of letting folks know about stuff that was happening or about to happen. Most of the sales were live in the US.. but everything posted was at least live somewhere in the world. That is why I come here. Sometimes deals go live for an hour... sometimes for days. Sometimes the apps that find deals on apps are late to the party or they only get 1/2 of what's dropped. Most of the time the deals posted here are actually on quality apps. Yesterday the EA deal was posted far in advance of it hitting the store. But at 10pm CST when the deal went live for me, I knew what I wanted ahead of time and locked in my license on NFS:MW. The only person on here annoying me right now is the dude with 20 games dropped to free that keeps posting threads on the various games rather than making one main thread and posting links to them all there. Many good threads have been bumped past page 3 because of this. EDIT: Yeah people do need to learn to use appinfo=all. For those that need to learn, pick any thread on this site that has appinfo posted and quote the message. It'll show the code there. It's that simple. Getting a url from a google search is easy enough if you aren't on the AppStore on an iDevice. metalcasket Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze May 24, 2010 11,064 1,340 113 Deepest Circle, Hel #11 metalcasket, Dec 19, 2012 Even though your original post was indeed just a sentence, you did edit the appinfo into it before or around the time I commented. Perhaps I picked the wrong thread to vent my general dislike of how this sub-forum has been looking recently. That said, my point still stands. I've been here for the last 2 and half years, and this sub-forum has always had threads that had titles that looked like yours, or similar. "______ $0.99 -> FREE" or if the sales hadn't taken effect yet, there would be a little message in the OP that said "Bla bla bla...sale is coming along", with the appinfo right there for people's convenience. It's not till recently (and apologies if it seems like I'm directing this at a certain person) that there's been this whole "I can see the future" thing along with a thread title that looks like someone's trying to post just for the sake of posting first before running off to the can. All I'm asking is, whether it's a sale that's effective worldwide, or one that has yet to take effect...you said it...think about the readers who are new here, or don't know their way around the App Store as well as you and I...guys, just put the appinfo in the OP and say whatever you have to say without making it (especially the the titles, which are just silly now..."Since no one mentioned it...") look like a bag of personalized e-greetings that somehow puked out all of its contents. If you can't post the appinfo, just do what we've all been doing forever...just ask someone to do it. I'm sure they'll be more than happy. No more derailing from me. I think maybe you are talking about a developer who is promoting his own games, but from the wording, only really Greyskull, mr biggles, sink or swim, or I would qualify. I posted a lot of stuff 2 days ago cause Greyskull was sick, and also because there were some HUGE sales done by Gameloft like Wild Blood, 9mm, and some others. My tracker showed only one game at a time, and it was late like 2 am, so I posted each one individually. The first one I posted was Wild Blood and the second was 9mm followed by some others. Usually from past history, there is about 4 or so games on sale from gameloft, not like the 25 titles of an ea title. Had I known in advance that all these would go on sale, then yeah, I would have put them in a Gameloft thread, kinda wish we just had a xmas thread this year. Anyway, this pain will end soon after this week, please bear with us til after this week, then it will revert back to normal. I don't mind greyskulls early postings, and while I have gotten on his case about using appinfo=all, not full, there are plenty of good users here that help out such as me. Plus it is kind of cool to have an early notice. But yeah, if we get too many junk posts and people are doing it just to get recognition, then it can be a problem. When I first came, this forum wasn't quite as good as it is now. Users rarely posted here due to shame of acknowledging that they used it, and postings were more scarce. So I made a concerted effort to post here and to have some interesting conversations here about great games. For about 3 months or so, I was the main poster here, and more recently in the last 6 months or so, there seems to be more posts from generous posters, and people are trying to post games that are good rather than junk ones. I think your comment isn't about one of us, but I just wanted to respond in case it was. Merry xmas. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #13 nightc1, Dec 19, 2012 Oh gosh no dude.
