It's graphically superior in terms of presentation. It's a very slick menu driven experience with the main crux of the game play concerning in-game incidents (like over-taking, slipstreams, blocking, avoiding crashed cars, pit stops). Each successful manoeuvre will have you shift up a place or two - whilst keeping an eye on how you drive (cautious, balanced, aggressive - the latter obviously causing damage to your car). Initially, the first few races feel like a tutorial as you're introduced to car purchases, upgrades, staff and facilities. So this is where you will build your little empire. You can also buy new drivers. There's a screwdriver timer at the top. I haven't quite worked out if this is a traditional timer or not as when I tap it it reloads. Doesn't seem to eat away at the money earned from racing. Not yet. It's a service timer, so basically the lower the bars drop the closer you come to needing to 'service' your car. I've earned 2 gold bars so far (winning the first tour) and looking at some of the available cars, you can pick one up for 20. Wondering how far into the game I'll get before I find myself needing to buy IAP or grind. So far, so good though. It's enjoyable. Probably doesn't have the charm of Motorsport Manager. I have a thing for that game and the fact its the single dev. But this game does look good. I guess I need to play more of it to also see how much depth it has. Substance is important, sometimes more so than style. Will the in-race mini-games get boring too soon? Will the game feel like it has a competitive edge to it the further into the tours you get? We'll see. edit: Just been offered a car for £1.99. Declined. But not intrusively presented. Would rather build towards something than cut corners (excuse the pun). Aha...okay. My car needs servicing. Will cost me 1 gold bar. I think this is where I might end up having to grind. Unless of course I win races and tours and pick up gold bars. Will be interesting to see how often any given car needs a service. spooky23 Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2011 266 0 16 #6 spooky23, Sep 11, 2014 Also, be warned, on my 5s - if the phone locks and you swipe and return to it, it seems to crash to home page. You might want to test. Not a game-breaker. GPS Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2009 2,283 165 63 Australia #7 GPS, Sep 11, 2014 Thanks for the impressions Spooky. Gonna give it a try, tbh the free part of this scares me. I love motorsport manager and it's simplicity and as you said, charm. I like the mix of racing gameplay elements, mixed with the management aspects. Won't have time to play any more tonight but will give it some further time tomorrow. There is very little management and the races are mainly mini-games of flick the screen to pass or use tilt controls to take a corner. I downloaded it as I'm a fanatical motorsport fan and have been since the Jochen Rindt days (that's the late 60's) and I love any motorsport management games. For a decent motorsport manager game, go buy 'Motorsport Manager' it's good (although has minor flaws) and it's 1000x better than this poor effort. I suspect the kids would enjoy it but that's all. tso5818 Well-Known Member Sep 13, 2011 2,892 0 0 iANiMeX's left ear #13 tso5818, Sep 12, 2014 This is an awesome game. Wish they added more cars though, and more classes. spooky23 Well-Known Member Jun 30, 2011 266 0 16 #14 spooky23, Sep 12, 2014 I agree Motorsport Manager is more progressive with the management side of things. Has a bit more substance and like I said, charm. RTM however is a great time killer. Easy on the eye, not so much substance but some nice cars and the in-game stuff during races is decent. Now imagine MM with those in-game decisions. I have just gotten into the second tier,Touring car championship. Starting to sense more of a push to spend money or start grinding. Upgrade wait timers now appearing for level 2 parts (a 29minute wait). The need to upgrade to be competitive, currently upgraded all level 1 and a couple of level 2 parts and only qualifying 9th or 10th on average. Get a lot of "we need to upgrade to be competitive..." suggestions from the mechanic... Gold payout is 1 per level up, which doesn't seem to happen very often... I think I'll stick with MM.
