Thats not a platformer, its a runner. (Good game though)

A game where you have left/right/jump buttons is essentially a platformer. Platformers have been around since the late 0's (Miner 2049er) and over the years have had many famous games such as Manic Miner/Sonic/Mario Land and so on.

Lately lots of people keep calling their games a platformer when its essentially a runner (Frustrating for us oldies who love 'proper' platformers !)

Are you seriously saying Granny Smith is not a platfomer? You may move move forward automatically, but it's definitely a platformer. Temple Run, Canabalt, those are runners. A game where you timing jumps, taking alternate routes, learning the levels to improve your performance and times, I'd call Granny Smith a platfomer
