Wandake's pleased to announce our newest game coming to iOS within the next few weeks... Apocalypse Max: Better Dead than Undead! Who's Max, and what's so apocalyptic about him? Max is just this guy who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time when things went boom and zombies started to eat everyone... It's a classic tale of boy meets zombie. Boy shoots zombie. Boy eviscerates other zombie. Boy may or may not get torn apart by yet another zombie. We're positioning this as the feel-good family rom-com game of the year. Oh, and he's got a really big knife that he likes slicing zombies apart with. It's pretty fun. What's it like when Max goes about eviscerating his ancient zombie horde foes? Glad you asked! Apocalypse Max is a classic 2D run-n-gun that features fast action, a multitude of weaponry, slicing of zombies into little bits and... more fast action! Featuring over 20 levels spread across 5 different regions, 'Max sports beautiful hand-drawn art and animations that just pops from the screen. I know I should probably care about all the other "features" the game has, or if it's actually fun or not, or... works for more than 2 minutes, or whatever... but really, all I ever a judge a game on is how it looks. We totally relate. (Although we do pay at least some attention to whether or not the game will be fun to play, doesn't crash instantly, etc...) So here's a few teaser shots. Large, overly dramatic poster: And some screenshots We're looking to get some video up shortly. Once that's done, we'll post. We also have a ton of great concept art that we're going to be posting, as well as we lead up to release. Coming soon to iOS!
Looks really interesting and I like the graphics I'm a bit worried about the controls though, the buttons seem quite small and stand right next to each other.
A few of our enemy concept pics. We have tons of great art, so I'm going to try and dig more up and post over the next few weeks. (And yes, Contra was a bit of an inspiration on this...) - Corey
I love the art style, and the game looks really interesting. I don't see the problem with virtual controls. For this type of game, virtual controls are very suitable. I think it will work fine.
Wow, I love the design of the main character. Kinda reminds me of a mixture between a Helghast from Killzone, Hunk from RE, and the Death Korps of Krieg from Warhammer 40k. I'm really looking forward for this game to be released!
Looks fantastic based on the art and screenshots, and I love the game concept. Will this be Universal, and are the virtual controls customizable - for example, can they be resized and/or moved around? Looking forward to this!
Hi all, we put together a wallpaper version of our title poster. I can attest that it looks great on the iPad!
We're launching on Sep.14, 2012 !!! BTW this is an old thread. Here's a link to the new Apocalypse Max thread: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=152926
