Hi everyone, I am going to release my first update for Globee and would like to know what can i change with this update? App name? Categories? Keywords? Thank you.
When you are going to release an update, apple doesn't show all your previous ratings any more, as soon as you get 5 new ratings. ....this can be bad or bliss....
That's what I thought...in that case @Kriio, it might not be bliss, hehe. Since the current version of your App is already highly rated.
well, I dont mean to brag but my trivia games rank was 946 last time i checked so you know...my app is easy to find, lol. I want to try a few different things with the new update. I have a new feature i want to try out as well as fix the keywords. It will be a bit unfortunate to lose the ratings, but i feel like that is the best solution for globee.
I don't think keywords are particular useful for games. Who has ever found and downloaded a game based on keywords. They are much more useful for utility apps in my opinion.
I dont agree. Lets say somebody loves to play a game like Sonic - and your game exactly copies that style (as an example) - but of course you can not name it "Sonic like game"...but you can put in the keyword "Sonic". So everyone who searches for "Sonic" finds your game as well. I think for finding games similar to famous brands the keywords are a great benefit. I actually think it is.. "The Art of Using Keywords Successfully Improper use of keywords is the fourth most common reason for App Store rejections. When you spend the time to come up with well thought out keywords for the audience you're trying to reach, it increases the likelihood they will find your app on the App Store. The most common rejections are for keywords which are offensive, objectionable words or phrases; using trademarks, company or product names, unauthorized use of celebrity names and/or likenesses; and irrelevant keywords (i.e., keywords not pertaining to the submitted application)." From here on the Apple Developer site
Thought as much. And when it comes down to it what else could you put. For Blockees I had the toughest time coming up with keywords. People search for games by name, no one searches for 'sliding blocks', 'bird catapulting' etc. It just doesn't happen in the real world.
I totally agree. That's why I didn't spend too much time pondering what I should choose as keywords. Out of the few people who were going to find and buy my app, how many of those were actually going to intentionally find it using the keywords. Not many.
I agree, using trademarks is not the way to go but we do need to get creative with this. My app is a riddle based game. So i will use "riddle, world, quiz, trivia and all that". Also since it has countries, i will use some country names also (in hopes of landing a sale in...Romania for example). But it seems to me, that keywords are not all important in the scheme of things.
Keywords are far more important for non games. I've made a fitness interval timer called Seconds. If you want an interval timer you search for 'interval timer' fortunately for me I rank 2nd, only after an app called Interval Timer.
Ratings not Rankings I´m so sorry, of course I meant you loose your ratings not rankings (english isn`t my first language and sometimes I mix things up )
