!!! Caylus is now approved and will be available for purchase on Monday, Jan 16 !!!

The year is 1289. To strengthen the borders of the Kingdom of France, King Philip the Fair decided to have a new castle built. For the time being, Caylus is but a humble village, but soon, workers and craftsmen will be flocking by the cartload, attracted by the great prospects. Around the building site, a city is slowly rising up…
The players embody master builders. By building the King’s castle and developing the city around it, they earn prestige points and gain the King’s favour. When the castle is finished, the player who has earned the most prestige wins the game.

    Awards Caylus received:
    • International Gamers Awards Best Strategy Game 2006
    • Deutscher SpielePreis 1st Place Prize Winner 2006
    • Spiel des Jahres Special Prize for Complex Play 2006
    • GAMES Magazine Best Advanced Strategy Runner-Up 2007

    Features:
    • Pass & Play mode for playing on one device with your friends
    • multiple AI players, every with a different strategy
    • asynchronous multiplayer with push notifications
    • Universal App – buy once for your iPhone and iPad
    • Game Center support

Caylus is coming to the App Store in January 2012

Looks great. How does this compare to Carcassonne?

Well, it's different from Carcassonne :)
It's an strategic/economic game, Carcassonne is more of a family game. In Caylus you need to plan how to get the resources as cheep as possible and how to exchange them into useful stuff (like buildings, castle sections, VPs) in the most efficient way.

For more info, visit Caylus page on BGG.

Development is now officially finished and we plan to send Caylus for approval on Monday (Jan 7). Be prepared to get it in a week or so :)

Really excited for this one. NSH still keeps its place of honour on my home screen.

And why does the interface and even website look so much like Carcassonne? I thought surely it must have been the same publisher, but it's not? Still, looks promising...

This really has a Carcassone vibe, but I think that is nice. Keeping an eye on this one, I like board games and the style.

Can't wait to see how well it translates.

I like the board game Keltis, but even with the iOS version being well done I dont have much fun with it on iPad. I think some games just need the human interaction.

Gameplay is nothing like Carcassonne or Keltis, but if you like strategy games you should find Caylus being your kind of game :)
