Yeah... for the survival mode i acually enjoyed World War Z more. And it even had a full story, and exploration. They're from the same devs, but WWZ clearly got more love than Man of Steel.

A friend of mine gave me his audiobook for World War Z a while ago, which was the first time I had heard of it. Still haven't got around to listening to it in full yet, I guess I'll try this week. I don't think I'll bother with another button smashing game any time soon though. Still never even finished Infinity Blade II. Seems just a repeat of the same places over and over again to level up.
