Okay, I figured that this game was worthy of a new "upocoming" thread, as, true to style, the game has changed SOOOO much since the original plan. Oversteer - Devil's Pass (working title) is the first in (hopefully) a series of Point to Point racers, inspired by the likes of Test Drive and the original Need For Speed. The track is split over several legs and there are several cars to choose from (fantasy models), from hot hatch to supercar. I'm hoping to have the game finished within the next couple of weeks! Here's a WIP shot from the current build to whet the appetite: Cheers! Karly Warly.
It's designed with accelerometer steering in mind but maaaaybe... will look into it and see if Unity supports it yet.
Please say you'll have an alternate option to accelerometer. I've enjoyed your previous releases. Test Drive is awesome. Accelerometer I'm not such a big fan of.
Oh my Goood!!! Great idea man!!! Can't wait to play it, and hope to have manual accel and brakes and a good choice of coupes like the new Mercedes class S coupe or the hiundai elantra coupe, or also an old truck like the 64 El camino...
Yup, manual gas and brakes (possibly gears, too - haven't quite decided, as it is kind of arcadey). Unfortunately, there are no "real" cars. I can't afford to license them, though they are loosely based on real world cars, a bit like the cars in the GTA games
Yes, I know that there will be no licensed cars, but I mean cars like those I wrote about... Especially a truck and a three boxes coupe... I vote for the option for manual gear... Steering wheel is only on the right or you plan to add left sided?
There's no truck in this version but maybe in an update Final controls haven't been set yet, but there'll more than likely be a lefty version too
Not yet. I'm hoping the end of next week, but I'm waiting on art and music. Still a little left to do but shouldn't be much later than that if I don't make it No, not that type of game. Think Test Drive/Need For Speed. Haha, funnily enough Road Avenger was the inspiration behind the style. The game was originally not cel shaded but I decided to do it cartoon style (for multiple reasons) and remembered how great Road Avenger looks. So it's kinda like Test Drive with Road Avenger-ish paint applied. Lol.
Looks really neat. Will there only be behind the wheel view? Also, will the touch controls be like Asphalt 8's?
