Pretty sure this was made after Threes

The app 1024 is way more of a Threes clone though

Here is a discussion where the author of the original 2048 game says that he was inspired by 1024: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7373566 . Apparently the 2048 author hadn't even heard of Threes. He made a free game, and made the source available too so that others could learn from it and build on it. That's great, nothing wrong with it at all, but it is a bit sad to see so many people who didn't build on it to make something new or better but just put it on the App Store or on ad-filled websites as is in hopes to get rich.

So adding numbers on a 4x4 grid is a genre now? I'm sticking with Threes. Can't see any clone improving on the ad-free polished piece

Given there are so many clones, is there a truly "official version" of 2048 that is the one created by Gabriele Cirulli?
the official version is the web version and it worls perfectly on iOS.

Got 2048 tonight. I have been playing this along with Threes! Love them both.

It was hard to find this thread, when you search "2048" lots of 2048s come up and not this one
