I have to agree that Resident Evil: Revelations is really good, and I kinda agree that it's better than most Vita games, but it's only one super good game against a lot of really good games. The Vita just launched, and its launch titles (and launch window titles) are a helluva lot better than the 3DS's launch titles. The 3DS also has A LOT of shovelware relative to the quality games available- and that's not counting all the terrible Ubisoft/Gameloft ports available for it. Looking forward, I don't see many Revelations quality titles being released for the 3DS anytime soon. Sure, Revelations will probably be a classic, but it's only one game- that's one of my biggest gripes about the 3DS. It's a capable machine, but a lot of developers don't take advantage of it. A lot of them have just treated it like a DS- and it doesn't have much western support. The Vita on the other hand has a lot of Revelations quality titles being released, and it actually does have western support.

Note: I'm not saying Revelations is the only good 3DS game, but there isn't too many that are of similar quality. My favorite 3DS titles so far have been Resident Evil: Revelations, Cave Story 3D, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D, and Nano Assault- all of which are excellent games (though 2 are remakes). I have to admit, haven't really touched my 3DS much recently...

Interesting poll... But the iPad isn't a games console, the games are just a bonus, like gaming on a Mac or a PC not specifically built for games, so what are you asking?

If you are asking me which is the best entertainment device then of course iPad 3 - the other two have non-gaming entertainment and web-browsing features but they're an afterthought.

Which is the best games console? Well I really like both, but the 3DS gives me horrible eyestrain headaches and once you turn the 3D off the screen is a zillion years in the past, not to mention the touch screen still being low-res resistive one-touch tech, which is ancient now, the PS Vita seems to make much better use of available technology and it also borrows a lot of technology from the smart phone/tablet world to enhance the experience.

Price is neither here nor there - iPad games are bought with your pocket change whilst PSV and 3DS games are an investment each so you'll wind up paying about the same in total.

There's also the interface. Even if you don't mind not having physical buttons because you like the touch screen and accelerometer, the PS Vita actually offers both the traditional buttons/analog and the modern touch screen/accelerometer combos. 3DS offers a simpler layout, but the touch screen's resistive one-touch tech straight from the original DS is just... Well, it's just poor.

So out of the three, best device = iPad, best games console = PS Vita. 3DS is great too though.

I voted iPad just for its extreme versatility. I have a vita also.

Vitas AppStore has like 10 apps on it, 4 of them are extended warranties you can purchase for your vita. I bought 4 games when I picked it up for a total of $80.

I bought 6 new games on iPad last night for $7.

I like both but if I could only have one it would definitly be the iPad. There is just so much more I can do with it.

Someone earlier said vita for video? Why? The iPad has 4 times the screen size and the picture still looks great to me. I mean, I just don't get the whole HD mindset anyway....I don't want to be able to see every pore on someone's face/buttocks. HD is like the worst thing that ever happened to the porn industry but, I digress...;)

In terms of sheer fun: 3DS

    In terms of power: Vita.

I like Video on the Vita because the screen looks a lot better than the iPad screen. It has richer colors, and the screen has a higher pixel density making video look clearer (whereas the iPad has a tendency to expose artifacts/compression with its lower pixel density). The Vita can also download videos straight from the Internet without any 3rd party apps, unlike the iPad. The stereo speakers on the Vita are way better than the iPads single mono speaker, so if you don't have headphones, you'll see a big difference. In my experience of watching/listening to things on both with headphones, the Vita seemed to produce better sound quality (using the same headphones and same exact video). Portability is also a factor- you'll be able to take a Vita places easier than an iPad- though the Vita isn't exactly tiny.

There's also video services available like on the iPad- you can rent movies/tv shows or buy them, and there's Netflix. Only big thing the iPad has (at the moment) that the Vita doesn't in terms video support is YouTube (and HTML video support).

Agree with that I encoded a 1080p file for it the other day and it honestly looked amazing, it's definitely the colours I've already watched a few nature documentarys on it because they look so much better than an lcd.
Also the Vita seems to have the right Aspect Ratio so no annoying black bars like the iPad also the thing has great viewing angles.

Really can't wait for the OLED TV's to be come affordable now I think they will replace LCDs and Plasmas.

Of course the iPad is the best overall device. It costs twice as much. It damn well better be. I bought a 64gb too, for $699. The First bundle Vita cost $350. Exactly half the price, for me personally.

I would almost assuredly have no interest in those 6 games you bought for $7. It's a matter of personal preference, obviously. I'm thinking that I probably wouldn't have downloaded those games for free.

Resident Evil Revelations is an example of what a 3DS game is capable of after a year of development and optimization time. 8 months to a year after the Vita's release, a Vita game will come out that rapes anything seen on the 3DS, including Resident's Evil. It could be Call of Duty. It could be something else. But we are comparing games releasing a year into the lifespan of the 3DS to what amounts to launch window titles for the Vita.

Yes, a matter of personal preference. For me, the Vita doesn't have any games I'm that interested in yet. A couple that I'd like to try to see if I like them, but that's it. Do you like the two games I didn't mention the names of. ;) I can forsee the possibility of games coming out that I would like, but right now there's nothing exciting for me.
