What many of you have been waiting for: the next Doodle Jump. Not only clad in pixel retro graphics and kick butt music, but also carefully crafted with the most technically advanced game play ever engineered. From a hand crafted balancing system, to a carefully thought out scoring mechanism, all the way to the necessities of OpenFeint. Following on the heels of Pixel Warrior, Koh Jing Yu and DGH94 are creating Operation Going Up. Deemed 'the Next Doodle Jump,' it is sure to make its own path through the maze of the App Store. Scheduled for late Spring 2010, Operation Going Up will include 6 modes, and enough obstacles to make the mess in your room look like the size of an amoeba. As more and more work is crafted and polished, we will be posting screen shots and factlets on this thread, and my Twitter (@_DGH94_) from time to time. So keep on checking back to stay in the know of Operation Going Up. *Much of what you see will be changed. So please don't hold back suggestions, criticism, etc. We try to please everyone!
awesome!!! finally a thread umm is it just me or does that pic not show up? edit: whenever i look at your twitter i see a face staring at me (@_D) rofl
aw cool! I cant wait for pixel warriors! or operation going up! and you said you were going to give me a code for PW! yay me!
Here's some factlets to get this thread started: First Operation GU fact: There will be a variety of obstacles, but not those that you would find in Doodle Jump. Any guesses? Ok, second fact: Unlike Doodle Jump, the screen does not wrap. There are walls on either side of the screen. But why? Operation Going Up will have include a variety of iPhone only features, including touch, flick, drag, shake, & tilt. (All of them, so a bit of manipulating will concur.) Fact: Operation Going Up forces you to keep going UP & Up! Go too slow, and you're swallowed by the rapidly approaching lava! Operation Going Up: I hope you like colors... You'll need them to advance. Otherwise, you'll turn to dust... OGU will have 6 modes: Survival Beginner Expert Time Trial Height Flight Classic All of these are pulled from my Twitter, and more info is released every 5 followers, so if you're not following me already, it would be a smart thing to start.
I don't want to give away anything, , BUT there are a few that have really stuck out to me. AND with that post, I would like to officially announce the contest on TA. We have two contests going on: A naming contest. We need an official name for OGU, anything at all. I'll pick three winners around Christmas, and then TA and Twitter will vote on those three. Winner of those three will get a promo code for Operation Going Up, and Cheese Collect. We also have a 'Design an Obstacle" contest. Pretty straight forward, think of an obstacle and what it would do. My personal favorites would get their name in the description of the item in the instructions, and their name in the credits as well.
here, myself, allong with others, have commented in here which seems to have been devoured in the forum http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=34709&highlight=operation&page=2
Not quite like that, but ya. Me being colorblind myself, I have my own methods of seeing color. But I think for the masses, I'll just use different patterns.
are you like DareDevil? sorry, that felt like it needed to be said, no offence to you can't wait for the game, did you get my email a little while ago by the way?
Awesome to see this thread! A couple ideas for the name: The sky's the limit, Air and Space, I'll try to think of some others.
