FWIW, I applaud you for having the courage to say that publicly, and I wholeheartedly agree with you. It was a pretty emotional ride for me as well, •••Spoiler:  especially as little clues were "unearthed."

I love this game, and it really pulled at me in ways I wouldn't have thought a game, much less on my phone, could.

When you were asking about the ending•••Spoiler:  , I honestly didn't want to take any of the power away and risk ruining it for you. I wanted you to realize what you were experiencing the way I and others who have played the game did.

I'm glad Broken Kings had the vision to release something as emotionally challenging as Dirt, and I hope other developers will follow their example...

Default Flashbacks

If you look at the "flashback" cards in the second part of the game, you will see why Dirt constantly sees the earthworm, and why he is digging gems. In fact, many of the items in the dirt resemble these 15 cards. When you see them, look at them carefully, and you will see what I mean.

I do not want to give anything away, but I did not see anyone hint toward this.
