Hot dog! Star Traders RPG is a good game, but to focus on 4X using that format will be amazing. I can't wait.

If this is as complex and rewarding as it looks (enough even to rival Starbase Orion, perhaps), the lack of async multiplayer might be one of the biggest "awww, whatta shame"s in the App Store. Regardless, I'll be forcing my money down Star Traders 4X Empires' gullet as soon as this hits.

Voted on Greenlight... but it doesn't seem to be making ST 4X Empires come any faster... On the contrary it's very unusually for 4X games to have multiplayer support at all because 4X can be so detailed a slow paced. Starbase Orion is an exception and they somehow pull it off (being mobile native and popular helps), but I don't at all consider multiplayer essential for strategy/simulation style games. Hopefully the artifical intelligence is sharp enough to chew my face off.
@undeadcow - the game has the classic Trese Brothers difficulty scale, so if you ask for it, they will chew, rip, shred, etc...
On the contrary to what? I didn't say it was common, just that async mp in this would probably be absolutely awesome (Hence the "what a shame" reaction.) (Actually, it is unusual for 4X titles on iOS to feature multiplayer. Which is one of the greatest drawbacks with this genre on the platform. Detailed and slow-paced is not really related to async (and has no bearing on whether a game is more or less suited for async), just to common preconceptions regarding mobile multiplayer, such as that it has to be fast-paced and short, etc. In fact, asynchronous multiplayer is probably the multiplayer form most suited to long and slow-paced matches, since sessions don't have to be scheduled, turns can be enjoyed at the players' convenience, etc. Anyone who has run marathon games online in Civ knows how problematic it can be to schedule regular, recurring multiplayer sessions for weeks or months, and keep the interest to do so, something that is far less irksome for realtime online games. Async does away with that particular multiplayer drawback inherent to the 4X genre.) For PC 4X titles, multiplayer is a gold standard.)

Outta nowhere (at least to me) and I couldn't be more excited! I keep clicking the link on page 1 of this thread (thanks for providing it) in the hopes that it will pop early. No luck so far, though.
