Yeah. And by that same token, who cares about Rosa Parks? And Martin Luther King Jr.? Nobody knew who they were before they furthered the cause for civil equality and peace for everybody, so let's just ignore them.

    What, you don't ignore them?

As far as I'm concerned, favorite "comic book movie" don't include random movies that happened to be based on a comic that you never knew about prior to and most likely still haven't read.

    Like the walking dead.

    Which isn't a movie.

    But who cares.

TDK is still better than watchmen.

Watchmen was revered in the eighties as a great comic, is on time's list for top 100 novels, impacted the comic industry massively.

I think to disregard a comic book movie from being your favorite, just because you didn't know beforehand that it was based on a comic, is a silly way of making the rules. Knowing the comic exists beforehand doesn't change anything (well, generally you'd be more prejudiced against the film, but that's a different scenario altogether!), and same for if you didn't know it existed.

The Dark Knight? A lot of people... I mean a lot of people think it's a wholly original concept aside from the characters. They don't know that it is heavily based on three? storylines in Batman lore: The Killing Joke being the main one, I believe.

Watchmen? I'm actually not sure anybody I've talked to before that came out were unaware that it was a graphic novel already. Everyone was quite aware of that fact, at least in my circle of friends.

The Dark Knight Rises, I had no idea was based on a comic, much like how I was with The Dark Knight, but now I've been reading all about the Knightfall storyline, and a couple other things. Though to Christopher Nolan's credit, I think it's the most original Batman film he made, in terms of taking liberties with the characters and not telling previously-known stories.

What I was trying to say here is that, if I'm understanding you correctly, you shouldn't ignore a movie in your ranking just because you didn't know it was based on a comic before you saw it. By that thought process, I bet most comic book movies would be banned from the general public's listing because rarely do you find people that know which storylines certain superhero films come from. Usually they know the characters, and nothing past that.

I'm not currently in the state of mind to read all that but I've always known what watchmen was. I meant not many people do.

    I didn't disregard anything.

My favorite comic book movie is wolverine because I freaking loved the wolverine comics. Same with batman.

Watchmen is awesome but has absolutely no nostalgic or whatever value to me so I'm not gonna pick it

That and I didn't like it as much as TDK.

    Or wolverine

Why do I get the feeling you never knew of them before the movie.

    Blah blah blah, yourself.

The gist was to say it sounded like you were saying people shouldn't consider a favorite comic book movie as such if they didn't know beforehand that it was based on a comic. I wasn't disregarding anything regarding your intelligence or anything (ugh that sentence was terribad).
