    Hey there Touch Arcade.

We are Idiocracy Games, and we're currently developing Pirates War - The Dice King, a cross platform board game.

We are developing and publishing the game on our own. We plan on releasing the Game on the Web and iOS by the end of next month. Android version to follow shortly afterwards. We got greenlit on Steam and might release the game over there depending on how it performs on the other platforms.

We're now trying to build a community for our game, mainly through social media so that we have at least a small user-base when the games releases. Since the focus is multiplayer, it is difficult to play our game if there isn't anyone else out there to play it with.

Anyone here has experience advertising/building a community for their indie/mobile game before release for free or for cheap?
Any success stories of getting featured and/or getting reviews for the game (indie or mobile focused review sites).

Also, we want to make ourselves available to answer any questions you might have about the development of our game.

    Thanks!

After doing a quick check on your Facebook page, you guys already have 19k likes! That's way more than we have right now haha

Anyways, I think the number of like is already a good foundation. A good strategy to try is maybe using Discord as a way to engage with your audience. Discord is basically a chat app (like Slack) but mainly for games. It's fairly easy to setup and use and easy for users to get in as well. Best of all, it's free!

Thanks I will take a look into that. We ran an ad for the Facebook page mainly targeting Southeast Asia. But it is quite expensive if you really want to see any results, especially for North America.:(

Yeah Facebook ads are really expensive! From our experiments, we found out that a 3 day campaign over the weekend is the most optimal way of attracting users. It's pretty much also hit or miss for that campaign, no guarantee for big downloads. Try experimenting with your creatives as well, Video ads seems to be very effective when it comes to engagement.

    Good luck!
