Played about three games in and it's quite fun and looks very good on retina and then it crashed. No other app was running at the same time I was playing?

This game is magnificent. It's like Sonic Dash but integrated with Temple Run. (somewhat). The soundtrack is great, for me at least. I was so happy that State Champs is in the soundtrack.

This looked like it would be a "mobile focused" cash grab based on the Crazy Taxi name. In reality, it's actually a fun, polished, well made mesh of the classic Crazy Taxi feel with Temple-Run-esque gameplay.

It works.

For me, this game is 20% awesome (the CORE gameplay COULD be good, using your own music, the crazy taxi style) but 80% social/freemium nonsense (coins, gems, petrol/energy). It's also too stage based for my tastes. I'd prefer if it was endless like the devs Sonic game.

There are too many things to press, too many menus/stages/item screens. Starts to give me a headache. I just wanted it to be a simple, crazy taxi themed endless runner. It isn't. Expectations I guess.

I was looking forward to playing it. And probably still give it a go over the next day or two but urghh. The bad outweighs the good in my opinion.

Still worth a look for the theme and good basic idea but will be adored by those who enjoy spending coins and gems on upgrades for a vehicle that'll be obsolete three stages down the road.

Default Fun, But Flawed.

I'm going to step up and say that I am a huge Crazy Taxi fan. It's the reason I bought my DreamCast way back in college and is still one of my favorite games of all time. When I heard that a new Crazy Taxi was in development for iOS I was super excited. Free to play? Not my favorite genre of game, but I'll jump on board. Finally I got a chance to try it out and post up my thoughts for others to consume.

Things That Are Crazy
  • - The game looks super slick. It makes me happy just looking at it. The colours are so bright and fun and cabs have never looked better.
  • - Gameplay is fun. It's like Temple Run but not so much on rails. It might take a while to get used to the controls. It does feel over whelming at first, but you adjust. Now I ride in style and have no worries.
  • - Lots of options to customize your cab from decorations to car performance. I personally like the classic yellow and nothing to outrageous.
  • - Music is pretty good too. I miss my Offspring, but there is an option to play my own music if I choose. I've yet to be annoyed with the music they've put in the game.
  • - Looks like the game is set up to have at least three areas to drive around in. I'm looking forward to seeing those in the future!

Things That Are Butt
  • - I have an iPhone 4 and the game can lag on it. Quite a bit at times. Not quite unplayable and mostly only when lots of things are happening. Sadly the chugging can interrupt your ride. It even lags on the menus. I do wish it was optimized for all us 4 or 4S people. We're not that far behind.
  • - The game takes a long time to load. It takes the original Crazy Taxi on iOS less time then this one.
  • - City Ru$h really pines for your dollars, everything can cost you a small amount of cash. Plus, it's only 4 plays before your cab is out of gas and you have to pay to play more, watch a video (for only one more play) or wait. It really gets annoying, but I understand that this is the business of free to play games these days.
  • - The taxi routs seem very repetitive. You can deviate and drive around different streets (the game even encourages it), but with a clock running down you'll find yourself out of time and lost pretty quickly. I wish there was a map you can open up and unlock, or a better way to tour the town and explore with out running out of gas/turns.
  • - There seems to be so much to keep track of in the game it's a bit daunting. There are customers to track, car enhancements and decorations, cab drivers to pick and cars too. Don't forget the items people left in your cab that can help you win prizes (sort of like a scavenger hunt). If all that is your bag, then right on! But if your looking for a quick pick up and play, you'd better to go back to the original. (especially with these load times)

Overall opinion... I like it and I want to like it more. I realize it might be heavy on the flaws side, but I still enjoy playing it. I hope some future updates with fix some of the issues or I might be dropping this sooner then I'd like to though.
