Default Income

How does the game determine the amount of income each player receives when the central timer hits 0? I've noticed matches where one player begins receiving more than their opponent. Do the number and level of your towers count? The number of creatures you've sent/killed? If there's a help screen that explains this, I missed it.

It depends on the amount of troops you have sent.

It does tell you in the single-player tutorial, but it's probably quite easy to gloss over or forget it. Anyway, here's the math for it:

Each creature that you send adds to your future income. So the first little green crab (Skuttler) costs $5 to send, but then adds 1 to your total income. The base income is 20, so that means if you send 1 Skuttler at the start of a game, your next income will be 21!
The more a creature costs, the more income it will give you. You can see the exact numbers if you swipe open the creature panel while in-game (it tells you their speed, health, and +income).

So what this means, is that, the game is a race to the highest income so you can dominate your foe... but at the same time you have to cover your base

Sorry about the delay on the update! Got hit hard by school with some tough exams and project deadlines, but with that out of the way we've got the update ready to go with a ton of new content for you! It's officially launching tomorrow, May 16th, but could be on the App Store as early as 7 or 8pm tonight.



To celebrate the launch (and me finally graduating from university so I can work full time on this stuff for you guys) we're also having our first ever 50% off sale. So if you have any iPad-owning friends that haven't played Stratosphere yet let them know they can grab the game for only $0.99 .



Here are some of the things to look forward to, coming at you in threes:
  • 3 awesome new levels (some of our best yet!)
  • 3 new modifiers: Splosions (every tower gets splash damage and pixel-y 8-bit explosions), Randomizer (Every time you drop a tower you have a random chance to get a tower from one of the other races), and Circle of Life (Lives regenerate every 45 seconds as you play so you can make an epic comeback).
  • 3 new costumes (zombies, monacles and radioactive waste!)

And we've also made a ton of other refinements and improvements:
  • The monsters have more than 100 new things to say!
  • Game Center challenges
  • Made Stratobots smarter and more devious. Easy and medium got some improved balancing, and the hard Stratobot will put up a much better fight now. Prepare to weep.
  • Completely new #Stratobets system, making it far easier to make your friend tweet or post embarassing messages when you destroy them
  • Reduced the cost of items in the Stash so you can get 'em all even faster
  • Added a few ways to get bonus stratocoins (without spending any money)
  • Improved balancing of races, towers and levels
  • Squished some bugs
  • Sent air kisses to everyone who has downloaded Stratosphere so far

AND with all that we still managed to actually shrink the file size of the app. We also have a shiny new icon to represent the new version which you can see near the top of the post .
