Not like Hookbot. We might do some cosmetic-only DLC for it eventually, but nothing that changes the gameplay. However, in the game after Super Quickhook, we're thinking of moving to heavy-gameplay-change DLC only.
oh yeah, in a survival game, game-changing DLC is never fun..haha this sounds sweet. any chance of openfeint gold? MY 2,000 post rite hier
oh, yes. i imagine if optimized correctly it could happen? Also, are there any chances of you needing...help with the game... (im not aloud to 'beg' for testing...so testing=help)
We plan on doing a random call for testers over twitter, in 2 weeks or so. Comments I'm really fishing for right now: The art style. In the preview thread, what I mostly got was that the animation frames need to be doubled. Anything else? Try to keep things specific (which is pretty constructive).
so lucky people get to test? argh... why do my fav games have to do random testing nowadays... first A4E 2 now this...
Gotta say that I love the graphics. The SNES was my first console and this looks just like it would be one of the stages in Super Mario World. You've stated before that survival is one of the modes. What would be some other modes?
Yeah, we were going for an early-SNES look. Super Mario World specifically. There's survival mode, which is the infinite one shown in the trailer. Landscape shifts randomly as you go through it, with secrets to find. The other modes are Racing Levels. These are a lot like Hook Champ levels, except with no monster or avalanche or time limit. There's secret paths to find in these to get tokens (Racing Levels only, like Hook Champ), and one big secret to hunt for per level.
Hoping the levels mode is fleshed out and a decent length. imo go as far as you can should be a side mode rather than the main game
I love the art style, but who's the fugly dude? I liked better! Loved Hook Champ, can't wait for SQH!
I'm instabuying the game no matter what, but the only slight critique I can come up with regarding the teaser video is having the colors a little bit more vibrant. I guess that depends on what sort of feel you guys are going for, but at least along the lines of Super Mario World, I really liked how bright the colors were. A lot of the colors in the teaser video are sort of light and don't really pop, doing so might make the game look a little bit more cartoony, but one reason I love SNES games is how colorful and detailed games can be without requiring any fancy 3D graphics. Just my two cents. Also though, maybe it's just the video, the little screenshot above the video in the article looks pretty colorful. Ok I thought of something else Another thing I liked about both Super Mario World and Yoshi's Island were how the background depth varied, sometimes things look very far away like they do in the SQH video, other times it seems very close, like the forest levels in SMW. Changes in the background depth would be very cool.
are there still upgrades? the rope in the preview looks a lot less responsive than the laser/cursed hook in hook champ.
Omg :/ no upgrapes? I like to unlock the upgrapes of the games! Only cosmetic , honestly for me that sounds bad
To be honest after playing Hook Champ this new dude you play as looks kind of lame. Everything else is brilliant, I just can't get a grasp for this new dude. Dunno if it's just me, but I somehow manage to hate his appearance.
