I sure thought the retina ready apps would get upgraded quicker then this. I sure have made a stupid purchase or two on some 'retina ready' apps in my haste of not being patient enuf to wait for what I really wanted in retina quality. I wish I could craigslist my uber racing 3d purchase away.
Death Rally According to dev about the latest (Apr 02 '12) update: And yes. It's crisp sharp. Sauscharf. Will post original size (4.7 MB PNGs) iPad 3 screenshots "before/after update" later. Edit: Done. Before app software update (orig. size iPad 3): http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/5244/drbeforeupdate.png After update (orig. size iPad 3): http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/6435/drafterupdate1.png http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/3773/drafterupdate2.png Resized 50 % to fit into forum (well—to some degree, sorry for the slightly oversize): Before: After: Original image (after update) resolution, cropped:
TowerMadness HD is now ENHANCED for the new iPad! The game now displays at full "Retina" resolution and uses higher resolution artwork (icon, loading screen) on the new iPad. Monsters ate my condo too! Both still have a really high framerate.
Icarus-X v1.9 with full retina iPad resolution support was approved minutes ago. Still runs at 60fps! http://itunes.apple.com/app/icarus-x/id354542499?mt=8
A lot of devs don't seem to care. It's either laziness, lack of financial incentive, or fear of large file sizes. That last one just gets my goat...

I don't think that's fair to assume. If I were a developer, though, I think I would rush to update my games..especially games that were originally made for the older iPhone models. Maybe relaunch the game and get some more mileage out of it.
Developers on these very forums have given each of those examples as excuses as to why they're not updating the game to iPad Retina. We will see far fewer older games updated to Retina than we all hope and fewer new releases than we anticipate going Retina. File size is probably the biggest issue...folks around here irrationally abhor large apps.
Blot. Recommended Jetpack-Joyride-like endless flyer. There are IAPs but you don't need 'em and grinding is fun for pretty a while. Original resolution and size, iPad 3rd gen.: Resized: Was mentioned before: Tower Madness. Very good classic and pure tower defense game without any distractions like tap tap collecting coins or shooting down items of the surroundings. There are IAPs but a lot of free content anyway. Free right now. Original resolution and size, iPad 3rd gen.: http://img803.imageshack.us/img803/2387/towermadnessretinaipad3.png Original resolution, cropped:
Sorry for the previous posting. I made a mistake with the huge image. And now I can't reach the "Edit" button in Safari. Please delete. Here is the correct posting: Blot. Was already mentioned before: Muffin Knight. Got it when it was free and it's a pretty fun platformer with lots of combats. Can't tell anything about the IAPs, anyone? Original size & resolution, iPad 3rd gen.: http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/8048/muffinknightipad3retina.png Resized:
Ninjas vs Vikings HD. Got it when it was free for some hours. Mixture of Angry Birds and (most of) Fruit Ninja. There is really not much difference between retina and non-retina, the flying objects (here the vikings) are a bit crisper: Original size & resolution iPad 3 non-retina (before the update): http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/7463/ninjavsvikingsnonretina.png Retina (after the update): http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/4261/ninjavsvikingsretina.png Retina resized:

I just got my iPad 3 yesterday so, I appreciate this thread! Would be nice if the first post was updated though. Before I got my iPad 3, I wasn't sure there would be that much of a discernable difference in graphics but there really is!! Real Racing 2 HD looks insane on my new iPad!! I am very glad I upgraded to the new iPad and the new 1 gig of Ram definitely helps too!
