Picked this up when it first dropped to 99 cents.

Incredibly polished and fun to play. It may not have landscape mode on an iPhone but I got used to it quickly.

The best features are that it automatically highlights other cells if the current clue references it. There is also an "intersecting" view which dims the puzzle except the clue you are on and the answers that intersect it

We're bringing landscape mode to CRUX on the iPad but don't currently have similar plans for iPhone. If enough people ask for it, then we'll definitely give it a shot.

I have to agree with Cygnet. I remember hearing about the game a while ago when it was iPad-only, and even back then it was being hailed as the best option for crossword-lovers. Now I own it myself I can confirm this is true. The graphics look professional and make it easy to stare at the app for extended lengths of time, and the controls are self explanatory and give you access to everything you could possibly need. The little details are excellent additions, such as the handwritten-style font, being able to view the edges of the paper and the stitching at the top. All in all it's plainly obvious that a lot of care and attention was given to making the whole experience feel comfortable for the user. With a vast (and ever-expanding) selection of puzzles, there's really no need to ever buy another crossword app.

Hi everybody! I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 is now available in the App Store. To celebrate this major update and the iPhone 5 launch, CRUX is now on sale for the low, low price of only $1.99. I already posted on the main thread in the iPad/Universal forum with all the details, but also wanted to let anyone know who's watching this thread.

Specific to iPhone and iPod touch: This update inclues optimization for iPhone 5 display. We used the extra vertical pixels to show the entire puzzle at full width without panning up/down, and to make the keyboard keys taller. Here's the difference:
