Looking for impressions of this game; the early 5-star reviews seemed fake to me.

The first reviews are definitely fake (too many reused phrases) but the game itself isn't too bad.
It is a turn based 1v1 game where each player controls 3 or 4 heroes. The heroes each have their own inventory and powers, and it's similar to a MOBA in that respect. There are 3 free heroes at the moment which will rotate, and it's $5 to buy all 9 heroes or $1 per hero. The gameplay is like a fire emblem or advance wars game where you only have 3 units but each unit has unique powers. You need to level up to be able to buy better equipment, which is slow at the moment. There are not a ton of people playing so unless you have a friend you might be waiting a while. There is no async as each turn is 30 or 60 seconds long and we don't need async for that. I absolutely hate async in games that are meant to be fast and played in one sitting so I'm fine with this. |

I created Arena Tactics and I appreciate you guys taking the time to look at it. The first reviews were mostly written by beta testers that really enjoyed the app, sorry if they seemed fake or misleading.
I did create it as a synchronous online experience because I feel like that brings the most enjoyment to the users. There's no waiting for days just to play your next turn or having users quit out after a week playing. Games are on average about 10 min long. I'm really committed to making Arena Tactics a huge game and I already have a lot of updates planned for new champions and maps. There should be an update out every few weeks to balance champions for online play as well. You should definitely check it out, it's free! |
