Just announced on Facebook... surprised I didn't see a thread. Here's the link: http://www.facebook.com/notes/square-enix-dlg/final-fantasy-and-final-fantasy-ii-for-iphoneipod-touch/267546696300 Hopefully that works. I don't know about you guys but I'm excited. Commodore 64 emulator, Genesis emulator comin' soon, FF1, FF2... all these legit ways to play these epic games just owns, imo. Release was TBD and graphics are obviously from the PSP version.
These have been two of the most requested games for the platform. If this information is correct, a lot of people will be very happy tonight.
OGJHSDKLGJHEKLGJWEKLGWJEN OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The one thing I've been begging for since July '08! Awesome, it looks just like the Anniversary Edition I have on my PSP. Now I can get II remastered on my iPod!! WOOT!
http://www.facebook.com/pages/SQUARE-ENIX-DLG/167831379364 There's the official Facebook page for Square Enix's downloadable games. Linked right from the official site: http://dlgames.square-enix.com/na/. The Facebook page was what announced it, about 35 minutes ago now. That's all my source material. Edit: also announced on their Twitter: http://twitter.com/SquareEnixDLG
who the hell want ff1 and 2 on iphone at all? FF1 was great 20 years ago, but it's really archaic now FF2 is a really broken PoS... No game could be considered good if ya have to wack your own team to level up right =/ And these 'remastered' editions look horrible (like some korean flash game). Played these on psp, and I doubt no real buttons are gonna make it any better. Sure you might still like it, but be ready for some dissapointment =/ Just bring me FF6 advance onto iphone and ima be happy =)
Awesome, so it's not fake! Finally, we get to see what Square can pull off on the iDevice! Too bad Nintendo has the rights to Mario... I'd really like to see Super Mario RPG too, but who cares, we're getting the best of the best! I've played the crap out of this game on my PSP, so having it on my iPod would be even better!
They're old, but that doesn't make them any worse. In fact, most of the truly great RPG's came out around the NES/SNES era. After that, it slowed down on the PS1, and aside from a few decent ones on the PS2 and 360, have pretty much dropped off the face of console gaming. So what better way to get people back into them than to put them on the most popular device of the time? It brings it to a whole new audience, while bringing it back to those who remember it.
Sad times. SNES/PS1 (and NES) had SO many great JRPGs. Only played one really memorable one so far on the current generation (Tales of Vesperia).
Dude... I know... I just pulled my SNES back out and popped in Super Mario RPG, and now I'm back into my RPG's again. There really havn't been any RPG's since Lost Odyssey, which despite some critics killing it, was an awesome game. It really was the last great RPG. All the rest are some sort of Action RPG or RPS like Borderlands and Fallout 3, which I don't mind, but just aren't the old school ones. Crap, this is making me want FFXIII even more... Let's not get too off topic though, this will probably quench my need for a good RPG for a while.
Yessss! .. i just wish Japanese version will also be available in US store .. i mean my native language is Japanese so i prefer playing great games with my native language lol.
whew thank god. now i won't be some sort of pariah. seriously, 1 and 2 are NOT good games. they haven't aged well at all. honestly, the series didn't begin to hit its stride until 4. i was being very fair with 1 and 2 as well, since i remember enjoying 1 as a child, and i wanted to enjoy the remakes on the psp...but they just aren't fun. even with nostalgia on my side. oh well, here's hoping this means 4-6 are up and coming. also, Grandia...please god give me Grandia 1.
I'm glad SE is finally taking a different route from all those overpriced strategy games... this is awesome!
Square welcome to the AppStore for real. Those other sharty games we'll call it learning how to develop for the idevices
