Your right, this mode is unfair and totally brutal, which is probably not meant for everyone.
That said, with a bit of practice there's ways to bend back the odds a little by figuring the determined part of the behaviour of chasing enemies. The hidden Doom mode (normal endless + Doom) is slightly more forgiving and probably can be used for practice. Someone wrote how to access it somewhere in this thread.
(for the true masochists, it is also possible to combine Armageddon + Doom for the final stage of difficulty)
