We recently submitted FCX to the App Store. With any luck, it will be out by mid January. It's an evolution of Fractal Combat. It has all new 3D assets, similar worlds but more varied missions. It has a new store with a proper upgrade system. It has a new "simulator" control system, which plays much more like an actual airplane. There are some sensible improvements in the graphics department as well. Because of that, suggested hardware now an iPad 2, iPhone 4s or better. Though the game does run on the first iPad as well, and probably on iPhone 3gs. Last but not least, it's going to be free-to-play, with all content available for free, no mandatory purchases. The actual release really depends on Apple now. It's been "in review" for 16 hours or so. Hopefully it won't take much longer. It should work fairly well on the iPod Touch 4.
Because that's pretty much what the market tells us to do. f2p is our last resort, if that doesn't work out, we'll probably be forced to quit independent development (^^;) f2p wouldn't be my first choice, but there are f2p games that I personally enjoyed and I think that it can be a sensible model, if one doesn't overdo it.
You can choose touch or accelerometer. Also there is an "arcade" or "simulation" flight model, and you can flip the vertical stick direction. Pretty much all the options possible
Sweeeeeeeeeeet. You know I LOVE Fractal Combat, and I'll be all over this when it goes live. I really hope it turns some gamers onto the paid version.
