We are looking at adding support for either OpenFeint or Apple's GameCenter when it becomes available. Which would you prefer incorporated into our game? Initially we are looking at supporting global leader but would like to support head-to-head competitions. 'Peppers' is unlike any other match-three on the market today. We took the match-three concept and raised it to the next level. If you enjoy games like, Bejeweled 2, Jewel Quest, Parking Lot, and Falling Gems, then you will love 'Peppers'.Features:* Four game modes and eight ways to play.* Twenty unique levels.* Beautiful graphics and animation.* Stores top ten scores with statistics.* Jump to any unlocked level.* Listen to your own music or jam with ours. * Unlock achievement awards.* Uses the accelerometer.* Supports iOS 4 multitasking.* New: Game Center Support!* Battery friendly. How to Play:In each game, it's not just a race against time; one must score enough points in the current level to unlock the next level. The time allotted for each level will remain the same; however, as each level gets harder the points necessary to unlock the next level will be reduced. The game will end if the timer runs out and the next level has not been unlocked.Looking for game hints? There are none! Each game will begin with three pepper shakers which are displayed at the top of the screen. As progress is made through the twenty unique levels the game will get more challenging. Simply shake or touch the pepper shakers to randomly rearrange the peppers. Since there are only three pepper shakers per game use them wisely because chances are they will be needed later on.If no mores are possible one of three things will happen. If the next level was unlocked then it will begin. If not and there are still pepper shakers available then one will be used to continue, otherwise the game will end.On Fire:Unlike traditional match-three games in which only two game pieces swap places, in 'Peppers' entire rows and columns are moved to match three or more peppers. Once three or more matching peppers are lined up they, along with any adjacent peppers, will begin to shake. Continue moving rows and columns to get as many peppers shaking. Score big points by matching as many peppers as possible. Keep in mind peppers adjacent to any shaking pepper will also begin to shake. Rows and columns with any shaking peppers can still be moved around as long as the move results in one or more peppers shakingIn every other level there will be a 'locked' pepper. A row with a locked pepper cannot be moved up or down, likewise, a column with a locked pepper cannot be moved left or right. Score extra points by removing locked peppers. Once satisfied, press the Fire button. They will also help devs with the transition to Gamecenter. So I'd say Openfeint as they have a complete solution (and currently the biggest/best) and it will use as much as Gamecenter as it can B34$T Well-Known Member Aug 10, 2009 1,185 0 0 #8 B34$T, Jun 11, 2010 This. Also I'm glad you are looking to incorporate leaderboards. Basically my only complaint is being resolved . crescentia2010 Well-Known Member May 16, 2010 96 0 0 http://www.peppersthegame.com #9 crescentia2010, Jun 11, 2010 My concern is it would look a little odd to support both, I guess that is always a possibility, but first I need to get the 'Lite' version published. Sales are ok, the game play, graphics, music, and ratings thusfar are great. Hopefully the 'Lite' version can generate some more interest. I have a few enhancement requests from some of our customers we are mulling over, things like power-ups, and more hazards. We also need to support the new OS 4.0 and obviously the iPhone 4. At least Apple is giving me a reason to get the latest toys. Right now I am awaiting approval from Apple on our newest updated. I think it will be received well. I have briefly looked into OpenFeint in the past, but at this time I still need to dig deeper into GameCenter. bmn02102 Well-Known Member May 24, 2010 144 0 0 #10 bmn02102, Jun 11, 2010 Openfeint's director says that it's very likely that both services will coexist without clashing or duplicating functionality, i.e. with the next version of Openfeint adapting so that they fill separate, but related, niches. In any case, there's no reason why you shouldn't support Openfeint for now, and add GameCenter support when it becomes available (with or without dropping Openfeint at that point). crescentia2010 Well-Known Member May 16, 2010 96 0 0 http://www.peppersthegame.com #11 crescentia2010, Jun 11, 2010 Again I briefly looked into OpenFeint, shortly there will be four game variations, do you know if they can support different leader boards for each game variation. This would of course be important to me. Always a slow-down when it first loads, and if you want to look at your leaderboards it pulls out right out of the game and into the really ugly openfeint UI. I much prefer the look of plus or agon, but dislike them all the same. At the very least gamecenter will be universal, so I much prefer that. Looks like you went with openfeint though, so whatever my opinion doesn't change much. RttaM Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2010 3,559 8 0 #19 RttaM, Jul 17, 2010 I cannot agree more. I have been trying to explain to developers why OpenFeint is such a bad service, but I've never really been able to word it up like you have. +1 Vinvy Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2010 377 0 0 #20 Vinvy, Jul 18, 2010 I just want to add to that, that the absolute best option would be to put your own leaderboards and achievments into the game, with the games UI and artwork and design. Keep things seamless and simple. The social aspects of openfeint are useless and not worth the pain. Those message boards are the best example of why openfeint is bloat. And I am glad someone else agrees with me. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
