Im in a middle of dispute so Im going here to get some opinions What graphic style do you prefer in Aps? When graphics are average hand-drawn/photoshop edited, or nostalgic pixelart (8/16 bit style)?
God I hate retro games. I'll take photoshop any day. And even "doodle" graphics are made in photoshop, you know.
All of the above! Different art styles make for different games. I think I'd shoot myself if Geometry Wars was done with in the art style of Flickitty. Same if Soosiz was done in the art style of Space Quest. Modern systems can do so much. I don't understand why there's this need to drive toward one art style over another. Or for that matter, this perpetual need for "good graphics". (Which seems to have different criteria depending upon who you ask.) Let the game designers design their games the way they think works best. Then as players, let's evaluate the entire package. Not reject good games out of hand! /2 cents
Depends on the game. It's nice to have a range of styles for different games, it'd get boring quickly if they were all done in the same style.
