Is there a turn-based RTS that you can play in a wordswithfriends/chesswithfriends manner? Ie. not immediate play, but someone can logon- do their moves-logoff kind of thing.
I wonder how a turn-based RTS would work.... would you RTS the wildlife and turn-base the opposing army?
On topic: Strategery is a universal app that allows you to play in a fashion similar to Words With Friends.
I think the kind of game you're looking for is a game with asyncronous (spelling?) multiplayer. Uniwar has that.
Heh said rts as I was thinking tanks.Had thought stategery but thought was turn-based over a very short period will check these again though- thanks.
I have yet to find a game that could be classified as a TBRTS. It would rule, though, if there was a game that had a turn-based map (like Advance Wars), but when you make an attack, turns into a quick real-time battle (like Galcon).
The only thing I know that is close to tbrts are the total war games. You need to choose which one you want.
what is so confusing about the differences between a TBS and an RTS? seriously it's more common than people asking for a TA app. TBS: you take turns attacking and managing armies RTS: you manage, attack, and build bases all at the same time
A simpler explanation: TBS: Pauses in time-- "turns" are taken RTS: No pauses. Time constantly moves forward.
Yeah it's weird how words lost their meaning. What a pain that during the 90's on PC the RTS killed quickly TBS. I'd love replay games like Battle Isles.
Fallout did the reverse and also King's Bounty the Legend, ie real time exploration and turn based fights.
...what? If you think JRPGs are defined by turn based battles 'ala Final Fantasy', I really think you should look at more JRPGs. Also, King's Bounty is an SRPG, like Shining Force.
well what defines them? cause honestly i don't know. everytime i see the term one thing remains constant, turn-based battles. oh and i meant TRPG as in Tactical RPG.
