    Hey TouchArcaders,

We here at Romper Games have been working hard over several months on new vertical platformer that we are pretty excited about. We'd love to line up some beta-testers to help us iron out some of the last bugs and gameplay tweaks before we release.

Looks good, would like to see it in motion.

When you say vertical platformer, do you mean an endless autojump game like Doodle Jump, or an actual platformer where you have full control over your character and explore the level upwards? Either one is fine with me.

    Vertical Platformer

In Raccoon Rising you have full control over the character. I would say it is closer to Mario than NinJump in terms of your level of control over the character. The controls are really easy to pick up and give you a lot of control over when and how your character moves. It is heavily inspired by Mario, Sonic, Mega Man and all the great platformers of the NES era.

Are there tilt or virtual controls? Are you bouncing up or running on the walls? Why are the levels vertical rather than horizontal?

    Vertical Platformer Controls

RE: Artas questions. There are no tilt controls or virtual controls. We went with a vertical platformer rather than a horizontal one for a few reasons, but once you use the controls you'll understand why it works much better for smart phones.

    Video of latest Beta Gameplay

Here are some clips from the current beta gameplay for the game. You can get a better feel for what the vertical platforming with full control looks like. The video capture software isn't great, but I hope you guys enjoy!

    Submitted to Apple!

Raccoon Rising has just been submitted to Apple and should be available within the next two weeks. The game has been taking quality leaps over the past couple months and we are really excited to get this into players hands. We will let everyone know as soon as we get word on the release date.

Wow, this looks brilliant! Love the environments. Not sure I like the 2D aspects though.. The explosion effect looked rather dull.

    Good luck! :)

This game looks really cool! Love the art and cutscene comics, but the gameplay looks just as good. I like Ninjump, but this seems like it lets you be a lot more strategic in your movements, not as twitchy. Good work, I'll have to give this a try when it's out. Freemium model?
