I've been looking into Palm Heroes. I've played a ton of 100 Rogues lately, very good game. I haven't really enjoyed the korean action RPG's much, due to being forced to continually read cheesy korean engrish dialogues. Any recommendations? I haven't bought a new game for quite a while, looking for some of the gems I've missed out in any of these 3 categories... thanks!
Listed a few like 100 rogues/fargoal in my thread. Chapos Rings, Puzzle Quest, Broken Sword, Super Quick Hook... Actually the 'what should I get' thread is for you.
Also try The Quest and battle for wesnoth. The Quest has bad graphics and controls but is the best western-style rpg on the appstore. Battle for Wesnoth is a tbs with characters that level up and offers an absolutely massive amount of replay value for the price.
I've never really understood the Quest, personalyly I hated it. Try Crusade of Destiny, Zenonia 1 and 2, Inotia 1 and 2, Soloman's Keep, Assassin's Creed 1 and 2, etc. These are all very quality games for the price
Couldn't get into the Quest either, what a bore. Only RPG's I've liked on the iDevice are Chaos Rings, Across Age, and Inotia 2. Across Age is my favorite though, I'd probably buy it if it came out on another platform. The rest I mentioned are okay(for an iPhone game), but would pass if it were re-released.
Funny -- I've enjoyed Chaos Rings more than pretty much any other recent RPG on any portable platform (and I've played a lot of them). I agree on Across Age, though.
It's good don't get me wrong, but there are much better choices on other platforms. As for Across Age the thing that got me was just the overall feeling/enviroment of the game. I really fell for the game and have beaten it several times over.
Why didn't I like Across Age?? I think the lack of directions put me off as did the puzzle opportunities :/ (I mean, the first cave had a puzzle in... I don't like that stuff.) The text background was bad too.
That's my point: those "better choices" on other platforms were simply not better for me. A lot of what passes for depth in many RPGs strikes me as unnecessary complexity. But I'm not trying to make general case here -- I understand where you're coming from. I was just offering a different point of view.
There was a game coming out a while ago that was meant to look like a pen and paper RPG. It seemed pretty interesting. Can't remember the name of it though, or the release date.
Final Fantasy I Final Fantasy II Elven Chronicles Monster RPG 2 If you're into the traditional JRPG format.
Actually, I believe it's Galactic Keep. As far as I know, there's no release date. Someone mentioned Aralon; I would also keep an eye out for Xenome and Rimelands, both due in the near future.
Turn based: Chaos Rings Action/real-time: Zenonia 2 Strategy: None that are worth mentioning. Hopefully next month it'll be War of Eustrath, and in September, it'll definitely be Final Fantasy:Tactics Overall the only one that I enjoyed a lot was Chaos Rings, Zenonia 2 is really more of the best out of a bad bunch.
