This has been quite a genre now that it has a ton of fans, and a handful of games under this category now. Im trying to make a list with every game there is that plays exactly like Infinity Blade, which gave birth to the genre as far as i know. There isnt exactly a name for this particular genre, and TA has a few threads that discuss a name for this, but for simplicity's sake, i'll stick to "similar to IB" for now. The genre is known more for its unique melee fighting mechanics, which is basically a realtime 1 versus 1 combat, featuring swipes and taps to execute attacks, specials, and defensive moves. The game generally focuses more on defense rather than offense, but some titles have some mechanics that alter this. This genre is also widely known to have some of the best looking graphics because of the low memory requirement of the game due mostly to the 1v1 nature of the game, and the on-rails-ish (usually) mechanics. I am overly fond of the genre, so im making a list of all the titles under it. Please help me with the list guys! Do you guys think Karateka iOS will count as an IB variant? Personally i think it does, but wanted to hear from you guys before i add it, if i should ever.
Nah they might both look fancy but the gameplay is definitely not the same. A side note: the size of Legend of the holy archer keeps getting bigger as I play. That's not a normal thing, so I don't recommend it.
Yeah... Holy Archer may feel like IB at an angle, but it does play much differently. Any thoughts about Karateka? Thread here.
I think Karateka is more like IB than some of the games on the list, so I'd say add it. It's on rails and you can't really move freely, the important part of combat is defense rather than offense, etc.
Yes, Sword of Goddess, I have also remembered this game from Asia... uhmmm... something with "wind"? or "war"? "walker"? "warsinger"? "warsong"? And there was a game, I guess Mobage or Gree or sth, which had IB mechanics. Game looks like Victorian London or a bit earlier, and there's a guy fighting lots of undead folks. Guy wears some kind of cape or hood. Very dark setting. But I can't remember that damn name. edit: remembered the first game mentioned: Wanderer: War Song. But the second... geez... that even wasn't a bad game, but grindy with IAP. edit 2: damn, help me, guys! What's the name of the second game? This makes me crazy!
Scaresoul? Vovin, this has an impressive update log. I think i stopped playin after tha 4th version.im gonna dl again.
Yeah he might be referring to Scaresoul. Dont think that qualifies though, but im not sure. It's a two button game which felt more like how Quantum Legacy is, but with undead and a weapons master guy instead of space ships. I remember a Power Rangers game that definitely qualifies though.
