To bad impressions are bad. RinoaHeartily Well-Known Member Dec 12, 2010 1,715 10 38 #9 RinoaHeartily, Oct 5, 2015 Who designed this game? Tim burton? Beautiful game, but I won't play it based on that alone. It's a shame because I could look at the art all day. # zest007 New Member Oct 5, 2015 1 0 0 #11 zest007, Oct 5, 2015 Last edited: Oct 5, 2015 have to disagree first of all its very playable, had two issues so far froze once and a graphic that didn't load. second about the "no depth or systems" its just not true and I must wonder how far did you get, yes the interface is very clean and simple but the depth is there. what heroes with what abilities to use what creatures to combine with and how to manage your capacity according to that. I do agree that the usual iaps are a sad thing to see but at the moment It doesn't make the game pay to win. almost forgot the artwork like the rest of you said is amazing music also fits well. more info and beautiful artwork https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1400657451/afterland/description Kirenx Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2012 774 0 0 #12 Kirenx, Oct 5, 2015 Just tried it. The artwork is great, and there is some nice background design in the menus and during certain story bits. However, everything about the game itself is incredibly lazy. The game backgrounds are dull, the cards are tiny, the combat does not seem to have any logical flow and is all automated but still requires you click to continue every step, and many of the mechanics in the menu are very poorly explained. The ONLY thing I can find to do with the free currency is level up your characters, and this is expensive to do with what you can make. If you want to be opening packs or gaining anything interesting you need premium currency. I have yet to get ANY premium currency at all. I've played my share of freemium card battlers, and this is one of the worst. It really is a shame because the game has moments of great atmosphere, but it feels like 2/3s of the game is either not there or was extremely rushed to be released. Whackado Active Member Feb 17, 2014 35 1 8 #13 Whackado, Oct 5, 2015 Idk guys, I kind of like it. NO, there isn't much game there and it's got f2p elements but for what it is it's enjoyable to me. It's just a simple and relaxing way to enjoy the artwork which is the main draw but it's kept me interested wanting to collect all the artwork. The strategy is simple but does exist in how you lay out your deck. The music is great. Idk for free I'm having fun with it, esp fitting this time of year. Kirenx Well-Known Member Mar 16, 2012 774 0 0 #14 Kirenx, Oct 5, 2015 If the game's core mechanics were actually helpful with enjoying the artwork I would be on board, at least for a short run. However, during "combat", if you can call it that, you have so many cards on the screen that everything is tiny, kind of a detrimental factor in appreciating the aesthetics of the cards. In addition, the bland backgrounds, and the enemies being generic black blobs is rather disappointing. In terms of "collecting all the artwork", how can you possibly do this beyond sinking a whole lot of cash into it? I was never rewarded premium currency for completing any of the stages, and the daily rewards gives a single lower range draw. Again, I've played a lot of freemium card battlers. I totally understand the appeal of playing these types of games simply to collect what you can. This particular game does a really poor job of even offering players the bare minimum in either the collecting or battling aspect that is the central element of these types of games. The art is really nice though and that alone is the only reason anybody should download this game. It's sad that it's not better cuz it could have been. bestkevin Well-Known Member Jul 4, 2012 190 0 0 #19 bestkevin, Jan 26, 2016 Bad reviews here but why does it have good reviews on AppStore? :/ Probably developers rating it good.
