I remember in the early days of iOS gaming an on-rails shooter where you tapped to fire. It was pretty bad - either your finger covered the enemy, or if you off-set it, you had multiple attempts to hit! I hope they do some sort of 'tap anywhere to shoot and drag to aim.' Not sure how tap to shoot and tap to walk works though! How to differentiate?
why, for example, if for walking will be used standard one-finger tap, and for shooting - tap while holding another finger, there won't be any difficulties
Problem is, I'm so at home with Gameloft's system that I'd never want to switch to something like that. I feel almost as comfortable with touch FPS controls as I do with PC. It's just a matter of getting used to it.
The trailer for this game is amazing! When it comes out, I will definitely get it, but some things have made me slightly cautious. The new controls sound like they could be hard to work - a bit like the ones in bladeslinger. Also, how free to play is this game? It looks like it should be paid, so will probably have tons of IAP included. Please make the game live up to the trailer!
Done. For future reference, use [youtube] and [/youtube_] (without _) tags with whatever v equals in the URL.
The graphics are epic! and THANK GOD IT'S NOT ON-RAILS! Of course, free2play is a bummer but I don't want to go into a big rant about it. Overall, I'm excited for this game. Let's see what the developers of Halo, Battlefield and Far Cry are capable of when they put their time and effort into an iOS game
Controls are probably one of the hardest things to perfect on an iTouch device. I think Gameloft is pretty close to perfecting it. Please have On screen buttons to shoot and run. Touch screen to shoot I find is very difficult. Either way I am looking forward to this game.
I have. Even an Xbox 360 could output this. It really isn't comparable to anything on the PC that has come out recently. Anyways, I'm seeing all these people saying how good it looks. I'm pretty sure that if that's the case, we're looking at totally different games. Modern Combat 4 was pretty. Infinity Blade 2 was pretty. This... Is not pretty. It's good looking, but not that good. I'm also extremely skeptical about the controls. I saw that trailer today, and thought, "yuck, Gameloft's done it better for years."
The controls are the only thing that interest me in The Drowning. Since it is free, It will be a day one download for a test drive, followed by a day one delete. I hope that Counterstrike can finally be ported if it works...
I hope they allow you to change the controls to your liking, the controls that would be good are the ones everyone is used to. Every time Someone try's to reinovate controls, they come out to be point and click type controls and that really disappoints me.
