As people can see on the video, they're going more for a Jax and Daxter vibe, though focusing on the space shooter aspect of those games and not the action/platformer parts. It's actually a decent game, thought the slider thrust control could use some tweaking (it's easy to hit the map button by mistake) and some of the animation (particularly when you destroy a ship) is a bit rough. There's voice acting throughout (surprisingly decent), nicely rendered environments, and some pretty cool giant monsters. I've only played through the first mission, so it's difficult to tell how long the whole game is at this point. BTW, the game is not on rails, even though the video makes it look like it could be. The levels are pretty much open and there's actually a fair amount of exploration to find power-ups, survivors, etc. All in all, I like it better than WarMen. jak56 Well-Known Member Oct 3, 2009 5,946 33 0 the 56th realm of existence #6 jak56, Jan 28, 2010 yeah, i agree, maybe they should have made the name a bit different? personally, i was going to disregard this thread due to the name, until i read it clearly and saw it wasnt star trek STP_Tim Well-Known Member Apr 7, 2009 1,639 1 0 #7 STP_Tim, Jan 28, 2010 Unless "Space Trek" is trademarked by somebody else I am not aware of, then this is in no way an infringement on Star Trek so they they won't be sued. jak56 Well-Known Member Oct 3, 2009 5,946 33 0 the 56th realm of existence #8 jak56, Jan 28, 2010 yeah, i know. just wanted to start a bit of a discussion. squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,505 1,036 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #9 squarezero, Jan 28, 2010 I think the real point is that it's not the most descriptive name that Frost could have chosen -- and could, in fact, be a bit misleading. My only complaint which was mentioned that the shift forward or back gets in the way and you end up hitting the map. Maybe the devs will update and move this up a little higher sizzlakalonji Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Apr 16, 2009 5,712 1 0 Indiana, USA #14 sizzlakalonji, Jan 29, 2010 The controls could stand to be tightened up, but the game does a lot of things right. It's got a really slick style, and the voice acting is some of the best I've heard for this platform. These devs have a lot of talent, and since they've updated their other game multiple times, I'm confident that they'll add to this based on feedback. zztfox Well-Known Member Oct 15, 2008 812 0 0 #15 zztfox, Jan 29, 2010 So how does the survival mode work? squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,505 1,036 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #16 squarezero, Jan 29, 2010 It's arena based -- one large area with tons of ships to fight, tons of power-ups, etc. I'm more of a "story-mode" guy, but it wasn't bad. As far as I can tell it's only one map, but I see no reason why they couldn't add more in updates. dominicjan Member Sep 24, 2009 21 0 0 #17 dominicjan, Jan 30, 2010 Game Impressions = ) there should be more games like this in the appstore squarezero Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Dec 10, 2008 13,505 1,036 113 Male Chief Strategy Officer Salem, Massachusetts, USA #18 squarezero, Jan 30, 2010 I agree.
