While I haven't played for a while, it can be a little overwhelming at first but after a few games you're sure to understand the mechanics, and maybe after another few attempts you might even win once. While counter-intuitive, initially only playing 1 (maybe 2) characters I found a much easier way to learn the game. Sure having 4 charcters gives you access to more special abilities, it can become a logistical nightmare trying to keep tabs on which guy is where and the baddies are spawning 4x as fast as they would in a single player game.
