which one is better? i'm wondering because i will buy either one and then have enough money for N.O.V.A. when it comes out.
Don't worry, all newbies post wrong most of the time. For this type of question, it goes in the "General Game Discussion" area.
I havn't played Ace Combat yet, but after recently buying HAWX, I now love jet fighter games. It's gives alot more bang for your buck. Ace Combat has good gameplay as far as I've heard, but you get about 3 planes, more on DLC, and 5 missions. HAWX comes with 26 planes, all free, and 13 missions. I'm still on mission 4 after playing this game alot since purchase. You need to go for that one.
You can also check out skies of glory.Demo is free, the full version(available via dlc) costs a total of $12.
I've checked videos, and it seems I prefer Ace Combat (style, gameplay, graphics, ambience...etc.). Also, I'm usually not really fan of Gameloft productions... But critics are awful about Ace Combat! What about the new update of AC? Much better? Worth it at the XMas sale price tag??? I'm confused!
I just picked up Ace Combat since I just got a few gift cards and it's on sale, and I must say that if you're new to the genre, go for HAWX. It's just easier to play. The controls are much more forgiving. I havn't given Ace Combat a lot of time, just enough to get some quick impressions. I'll probably like it, just a bit harder to control. They also just added 3 missions and 5 planes to the game, so there's a bit more length right there. Can't wait to play AC6...
ace combat! I love Ace Combat, prob the most played flight game I have on my iPhone (and I have HAWX, FAST, and TOP GUN). Beat the game rather quickly, but I'm not into long drawn-out gaming experiences on an iPhone, I want something I can pick up and put down quickly. Very intuitive controls, and the thing is like silk on my newest-gen iTouch. HAWX, on the other hand, has uncomfortably long-winded missions - it has better graphics overall, but just doesn't have that accessible magic NAMCO gameplay.
It's weird, I find the controls to be the crippling point of that game. Just too hard to use. After playing HAWX, they just seem a bit oversensitive and go too far. It's most likely a matter of getting used to it, and I hope that's the case.
Hawx Not a big fan of tilt controls. Always loved the ace combat series, but with the high initial price and the dlc model, this has the worst of both worlds. Hawx wins by default. Playing a tilt control game in public can lead people to believe your having a seizure.
