As much as I like the Playdek card games from the olden days, I think the answer is Ephemerid by Superchop Games. That's going to be a sad, sad day if it disappears from the App Store.

Battle Bears -1 because it was one of the very first games I downloaded when I got my first iPad.
Honorable Mentions:
Crash Nitro Kart
Mage Gauntlet
Shantae: Risky's Revenge

Like Kirby and Castlevania? Try Bliblob:

Ever since I switched to a 64 GB SE I've learned to both connect with (actually play) and part with my apps, and the fact that Apple clearly don't consider iOS a permanent ground for games (and gaming history) helped in that practice. Right now, literally nothing on my phone right now is 32-bit, but had Grim Fandango been a 32-bit app, that would've been a serious, serious problem.

What 32-bit app would I like to put back on my phone permanently though? VVVVVV...hands down.

metalcasket's legitimate alternate account (for those moments the casket's unavailable).

Swordigo, Goblin Sword, Star Marine, Highrise Heroes, Blood Roofs, Canabalt, Beneath a Steel Sky and my one and only Dust are pretty much the only games i ever replayed after more than 1+ year. Everything else was only a cup of tea for me. Once it's done, it's gone.

My update wish that will never happen:
Space Tripper (by True Axis)

My 2017 GOTY contenders...
Glitchskier, Slayaway Camp, Full of Stars, Steredenn, Arkanoid vs Space Invaders

For sentimental reasons, I'd go with either Arcazoid Full or Midway Arcade. My best friend recently passed away and he had gifted me Arcazoid Full, and also his favorite game since the 80's was always Defender which is on Midway Arcade. It's always been nice to have them with me wherever I happen to be, rather than keeping them on an old iOS device that I rarely power up, ya know?
