A Dark Room RPG for iOS released!

I am the developer for A Dark Room iOS. Just wanted to let everyone know that it's available for download and has gotten some good year end recognition (it's made a few 2013 Game of the Year lists).

The list:
- Paste Magazine, Maddy Myers: Top 20 Indie Games of 2013
- Forbes, Daniel Nye Griffiths: Top 5 Anti-Games of 2013
- Giant Bomb, Zoe Quinn: Top 10 Games of 2013
- Giant Bomb, Cara Eillison: Top 10 Games of 2013 (honorable mention)
- Indie Games: Top 10 Game Devs Favorites of 2013
- The Bygone Bureau, Kevin Nguyen: Best of Arts 2013

I don't want to spoil the game for you. So vaguely describe it as an RPG with a deep storyline, rouge-like gameplay, old school battle mechanics, and some resource management too.

I really do hope you like this game... just an indie developer trying to bring some fun gaming to the platform

Here is the link to the game (again, per forum rules, I am posting as the developer):

For those that don't know what this is about, having more than 1 screenshot may be helpful.

Here is the browser based edition to try: http://adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com/

Here are some quotes from press "reviews":

A Dark Room is an idle game, which means it’s a game you keep running in the background while you’re “working” on your computer. It takes clear inspiration from similar 2013 titles Cookie Clicker and Candy Box, but unlike those two whimsical text-based browser titles, A Dark Room has a spooky story to tell. It can take anywhere from a few hours (if you cheat) to several days to unlock all of this game’s secrets; it’s worth playing all the way through to the story’s unusual end.—Maddy Myers

It’s hard to say much about A Dark Room, because so much of the game is about revelation – discovering why your world is as dark and constrained as it is, what has become of the world outside the room – and then the village, and then the forest – and what your become in the process of advancing towards the story’s conclusion.

If it's text based, the screenshot might be serviceable... since there's not much in the way of graphics anyway. This seems suited for the series of games like Papa Sangre that emphasize elements other than graphics.

@undeadcow Thanks for replying to @zergslayer69 concern about the screenshots.

To elaborate a little bit: Given that it's a text based game, adding more screenshots really didn't benefit too much. Also, one of the main charms for this game is the "reveal" at different points during the storyline. Adding screenshots would spoil those moments.

Also, this is an official port of the web based version of the game. There is, however, new content in the iPhone version.

- Deeper storyline
- Alternate ending
- Faster pace for a mobile platform
- Time trial mode
- Accessibility enhancements for blind gamers

This looks potentially awesome, will post impressions tomorrow - sometimes it's hard to tell but there seems to be a lot of credible buzz surrounding A Dark Room.

There was already a thread for this
I played it when it came out and it's pretty cool.
