    Hello everyone,

I am working with my team on a super duper epic project with very new tech and gameplay for iOS devices.

The problem is that we run independent and without a budget. Has anyone had any experience from publishers that budget the production costs for a share?

I am trying really hard to maintain our project 100% without sharing profits but we are coming to a dead end here. We will have a demo soom (1-2 weeks) should I try to send it over to publishers asking for production costs or is this pointless?

Sorry if you find this question noobish but I am a noob in these techniques till now :(

In a competive market as the appstore you must have a really quality product to be even considered to be paid in advance for an income share..

But you can approach any publisher who works on the appstore, maybe someone has an interest, but investing into greek companies nowerdays will be a tough sell..

Good luck on your quest for funding

We invest in projects we really believe in. However we are extremely picky since there is risk involved for upfront payment for a publisher. Feel free to contact us though if you feel your game has fantastic potential.

How could that matter? It's not like they want investments for their indie bank.

That was really ugly Mr.Ugly indeed!

Anyway! First of all we are a team not a company, in fact we established a company over to US so we are a US company not a greek one. And you should know that not all greeks are the same (but that is true for every country/culture i guess).

@Liv Games - Thank you for your reply. I will contact you in the coming days to show you a video / demo of our game. And YES. I believe it has quite big potential cause of its original concept/gameplay/design/story

why is it ugly to point at the truth.. if you are a us company situated in the us then goo.. if you are situated in greek like your location says then i feel for you and the trouble your country has.. my heritage is just one former country north of you.. and thoose are in worser shape than greece nowerdays.

but this has nothing todo with business.. any greek company would have a hard time getting investment funds from international parties nowerdays.. this is neither personal just objective.

again good luck on getting funds your way.

as for crowd funding.. 8-bit is pointless, kickstarter is us-only and indiegogo alot smaller than kickstarter.. so good luck with thoose of youre gonna try (which can't hurt!)

    cheers

There's the saying: The Ugly Truth. There's even been a movie made about it. In this case, you must be Gerard Butler...

In which case, I hate you. :D

NikosX, of those crowdfunding sites, Kickstarter is your best bet. It's US only in that you must have a US bank account, but anybody from around the world with an amazon account can pledge to you, and since you have a US company, you're already in good shape.

Make a super compelling video, and market and promote the crap out of yourself everywhere on the internets, and you stand a chance. It's certainly at least worth a shot. It was for us!

lol if i would be mr.butler i would probably not posting in an ios gaming forum :D but i will ask my better half if there is any resemblance hehe ;)

and yes to crowdfunding.. if you really have an title on your hand that just blows people away and oozes quality your chances are as high to properly raise funds via kickstarter etc. as it would be to be paid in advance by an publisher.

btw there is a new platform specialised on games i will make a new thread about this, because they have a special hook i've talked about alot in thoose crowdfunding threads..

My experience with publishers has been largely negative, and we have a small (ok tiny) pedigree as an established studio with a track record, office space etc.

Several have jumped all over some of our projects with platitudes and "we can make money together" crap and they even go as far as agreeing an initial, fairly generous broad-strokes budget.

And then each time its dragged on and on and by the time a deal has almost been signed, we finished the game anyway and put it on sale. I don't think there's anyone out there that can cut a deal in under three months, few that could do it under six. Which for the figures we're talking about is pretty pathetic. Don't waste your time.

EDIT: Just remembered this nugget. There is a smaller publisher out there (who shall remain nameless) who is technically still talking to us about funding and publishing Great Little War Game. The conversation was going well and the details of a deal were progressing, and the last communication was left at them drawing up a final contract so we can get started on finalising the prototype. The game has now been on sale for almost four months and we've not had either a green or red light back from them yet. Can't wait for that conversation! :)
