Haha j/k The game has icloud, so the file size bite isn't as bad. I really think that Apple should require any game over 250 mbs to have icloud saves. Also, never seen it before, but this game has manual icloud save options, so you can save it anytime which is sweet. I'm buying some more EA games for their sale, and since their games are massive, I feel the pain about deleting stuff. Oh the pain! RodGreen Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2012 178 0 0 http://www.brainsss.com #8 RodGreen, Aug 30, 2012 Glad you guys are taking advantage of the sale!! We love all feedback so please feel free to post questions or issues. Re: filesize We have over 70 unique levels, huge amount of audio dialog and added to that we have to include all the iPad 3 assets in the universal build. We could have done what the other guys do and split the game into iPhone/iPad but then we would have to charge twice ICloud: As others have talked about before it's pretty tough to get the automatic syncing just right. Stuff gets confused, lag between updates, etc. So rather than risk wiping someone's progress we decided to make it manual so you can have control. It is a lot of fun. About the icloud, so it does not auto sync right? So we must sync it manually? The gamespeed option, does it affect both the zombies and humans equally? Or is it more of a easy/normal/hard difficulty option? I assume it just affects the game speed not the difficulty right? Have you ever looked into other control options like joypad or line drawing for the casual mode? I guess you couldn't really do it in the grouping mode levels though. Joypad seems like it would be a lot of fun too, but it may be a hassle to program in. Kind of curious too how you came up with the game concept since it is pretty original in ios. Thanks! One would think, if the developer truly believes in the quality of their product, they would release a Lite version almost immediately, while the game is still fresh in people's minds. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #11 Connector, Aug 31, 2012 Yeah, I wonder why developers often don't create lite versions. If I were a developer I sure the heck would make a lite version for everyone to test it out. I gotta believe that having a lite version would help sales in a quality game. kioshi Well-Known Member Apr 9, 2011 880 0 0 Brazil #12 kioshi, Aug 31, 2012 Every review bashed on the game's controls. Did they change since release? I'll check the lite version anyway but it seems the controls are a problem in the harder levels according to gamezebo. LOLavi Well-Known Member May 23, 2011 8,364 0 0 iPhone gamer Finland #13 LOLavi, Aug 31, 2012 Well they are kinda. Sometimes they feel unresponsive. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #14 awp69, Aug 31, 2012 The controls to "paint" the zombies you want to move and click to the point where you want them to move seem to work fine. It's the zooming in and out and moving around the screen with two fingers that can be problematic (I never played before the update so not sure how much better they are). Since the maps can get large enough that you need to move fast to different areas, it can be challenging moving around the map -- especially if you split your zombies into separate groups. To me, the game's challenge is almost more due to this than the actual gameplay. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #15 Connector, Aug 31, 2012 I've been mostly playing the simple mode, and in that, the controls handle very well. The controls so far with the grouping play well too. But as awp69 mentions, scrolling around the map does seem a little clunky. In the simple mode, you don't really need to scroll much, so it doesn't really play much of a factor, bit in the more advanced mode, I would figure you would have to scroll more so it may play more of a factor. RodGreen Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2012 178 0 0 http://www.brainsss.com #16 RodGreen, Aug 31, 2012 We fixed a lot of the control 'bugs' and added zooming (out) so you can elevate the amount of panning. There is sometimes issues with it being not as responsive while panning but this is due to the large amount of zombies/humans in a level. If you play on anything above a 3gs/iPod 4gen you shouldn't experience it at all. This isn't really something we're happy with but we've done everything we can to make it as fast as possible - the lower hardware just cant handle it. RodGreen Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2012 178 0 0 http://www.brainsss.com #17 RodGreen, Aug 31, 2012 I'm sorry I missed all these messages. I thought I had subscribed to this thread but evidently I wasn't. iCloud: Correct, there is no auto sync. We actually initially had both, autosync and manual sync however there was an issue with 'sync lag' that wasn't very reliable. So we made it only a manual operation so that users had complete control over how it worked. Kinda like a hotsave option. Speed: Literally speeds up time. So everything is faster even things like clock timer also counts up/down quicker. Sound effects are speed up (sound more like munchkins) and all of the above. Really we wanted a way to make the game more fast paced without affecting the overall balance of the game. So this way there's no 'advantage' to making the game faster other than more action. Controls: We actually initially designed the game to be much more line drawing.. something like Spy Mouse (though spy mouse wasn't even announced at the time). We removed the drawing mechanic because while it works great when handeling one unit when applied to separate groups it starts to over burden the user with managing these complicated paths. So we made it more StarCraft II like (tap where to go) and added double tap to extend your path. So you can achieve the same control without being forced to draw/redraw the path. Game Idea: I loved playing Syndicate as a kid and I played with this weapon called the pesudatron, which when activated 'converted' civilians to fight with you. So I would run around a level trying to convert everyone to my side and they would end up being a rather erratic massive meat shield. I also really liked the idea that you had to convert x amount of Civ's before you can convert a cop. Then you had to have enough cops to convert an enemy syndicate etc. So we naturally applied that to the zombie concept (long time before zombie games were popular) and started to work on Brainsss. Interestingly Brainsss initially wasn't going to be released on iPhone but PC. mrbiggles Well-Known Member Jul 3, 2012 3,691 0 0 Like retired USA #18 mrbiggles, Aug 31, 2012 on my future wish list! looks great and fun, but since its new I'd rather wait and put on my wishlist...check future reviews to see if there are any bugs, more levels or if BAD things come like ads, in game purchases etc. RodGreen Well-Known Member Mar 1, 2012 178 0 0 http://www.brainsss.com #19 RodGreen, Aug 31, 2012 There's a LOT of levels 72 to be exact right now. You really do have a lot of levels, that is cool, it is cool that you have icloud saves too so I can have the option to delete/load to save on disk space. I played the game on fast mode in the options, I think I like it better cause it plays more like an arcade game. Kind of going back and forth whether I like the casual one group mode or strategy mode with multigroups. But usually when I play the multigroup mode, end up just playing with one group, also landscape scrolling is much easier with the casual mode, so maybe I like the casual mode better. You mentioned before that you were originally going to make this on the pc. Did you ever make a pc version? Seems like a mouse with keyboard would also work with this game especially in the multigroup mode. Also, do you have or are you planning on having an Android version?
