It's like a dynamic Scrabble game? Like Draw Something but with text? I like the sound of this... Can you title the overall puzzle? Like, say, if I wanted to play a game with a friend and base all the clues between us on Arrested Development quotes and references, could I title the crossword "Arrested Development Jokes"? Also is this on a web browser or Android in addition to iOS? pluto6 Well-Known Member Jun 21, 2009 5,837 3 38 Military #4 pluto6, Jun 21, 2013 This is actually quite a good idea. I am not sure about how it is implemented, but the idea of creating a crossword puzzle is fun to me. I get very tired of the WWF / Scrabble type where everything is centered around getting the right word(s) on very specific squares. MasterChief3624 Well-Known Member Oct 11, 2009 2,530 0 0 #5 MasterChief3624, Jun 21, 2013 All right. I just fired up a game to see how it works and have some suggestions: 1. I think it would be fun to be able to start a word anywhere we want at the start of the game. Unless I'm missing something, the game forced me to start in the middle horizontally each time. I think it could open up interesting possibilities to be able to start vertically on the extreme right, and work words in backwards where you have to think of a word that ends in a certain letter, or close to the last letter, working your way to fill the rest of the board. 2. There should be an "Expert Input" option where you don't have to choose from the predetermined letters, and be able to type your guess with the iOS keyboard. 3. At the end of a match, maybe have the option to save the puzzle and have a server available where you can upload your completed puzzle for people that might not have the app? So you can print it out maybe or email it to people, and of course make it prominent that this is from "The WORLD'S FIRST CROSSWORD CREATION WORLDWIDE THING" haha Direct them to the app. 4. In addition to that idea from above, maybe come up with a way to save crosswords from the browser in the cloud and download them down to your device? For a single-player experience? 5. Speaking of ending the match, when -does- a match end? 6. What are tokens used for? I see the shop to buy them, but I don't see where to use them? 7. Moving the letters to their place on the board seems very touchy... I feel like you should enlarge them a little bit? Maybe instead of making the person touch the bar, automatically zoom in to the top of the bar and then make like 40% of the bottom part of the screen the letters you can choose from? 8. I think you can clean the interface up a little bit. The icon for the game makes me think it will be a cheery and fun little app, but when you actually get into the app, the interface feels... bland. It's not bright enough, or welcoming enough, to hook people, I don't think. It feels like a second-rate app. Other than these things so far, it's a great idea with somewhat good execution! I'm especially a fan of the clue suggestions for words that the game knows. Ostrich came up with a great clue, Lesbian came up with many great clues. I was testing Lesbian out to see if the app will restrict naughty language, and I made sure the clue was appropriately inappropriate (oxymoron?)... and the game accepted it! No fussing! So that's good. Why would someone make inappropriate words or clues? Well, going with my idea to make a crossword dedicated to Arrested Development references and in-jokes, other crosswords made up of references to TV shows and movies might include quotes with language in them. That's what I was thinking Great job so far! Also, might I suggest posting this to the iPhone and iPod Touch Games forum? CrossMyWord Member Jun 21, 2013 9 0 0 #6 CrossMyWord, Jun 22, 2013 This may look like Scrabble, but is actually nothing like it. You and a friend literally build your own crossword together. Player 1 places the first word on the board and either picks a clue from a list or writes his own. Player 2 gets the clue and tries to solve the word. When he is done he would come up with his own word and clue. Thus the players take turns and build their own crossword. When you can't Pkace any more words on the board the game ends. You can definitely play a theme crossword, but in this version you can not put a title on it. But you can come up with any word and clue you want, even something only you and your friend/ boyfriend/ spouse know. You can challenge your dad or trash talk to your friends. And you can make it as hard or easy as you want. You can also make it personal and include the words and clues only you and your friend know. You truly pick your own words and clues and let your friend guess. CrossMyWord Member Jun 21, 2013 9 0 0 #9 CrossMyWord, Jun 22, 2013 Thank you for the great comments. There a just a few answers I have for some of your questions: 1. You actually can start a game either vertically or horizontally, just tap the board the second time to place the word horizontally 2. The game ends generally when neither of the players can place any more words on the board. Several other scenarios - a player resigns, stops playing for a period of time, or uses "pass" a certain number of times. 3. We are adding more fun interface options in the next update, but for now there are several color schemes you can choose from to customize your screen. 4. The tokens are used is you are stuck on a word and would like some help by revealing one or more letters in that word. Just tap the red "open" button at the bottom of the screen. If you register you get 18,000 of those tokens for free, and they can last a very long time. Thank you again for downloading and such detailed suggestions! A very clever idea what I hope will continue to be refined and expanded.
