After more than a year of work, we at Feedtank (all two of us), are proud to announce PANGOLIN. It's a physics-based-action-arcade-puzzle-platformer... or something. We'll let the trailer and screenshots explain. It should be in the App Store within a week or two. Let us know what you think! Looks neat. The Pangolin is my 8 year old's all time favorite animal, so I guess I'll have to get this game so he/we can play it, just because it's named that.
Awesome to hear your it's your kid's favorite animal. I hadn't heard of it until a year ago or so when we started doing research about what types of animals curl into a ball and aren't a hedgehog . They definitely seem to be very cool animals the only mammal with scales of that type (made out of the same material as hair). Anyway, you won't have much to lose as the game will be free to download with 10 levels (additional levels 0.99 for a limited time)!
Your art appears similar to studio ghibli's style which I'm a fan of. Are you guys inspired by that or with some other game?
Well Studio Ghibli wasn't a direct inspiration, however, I definitely am a big fan their movies. Those big eyes and pupils definitely came from anime some way or another. Almost all of the art and design was inspired by Asian art and typography. I looked at Chinese landscape painting for the backgrounds, Thai type and embellishments for the interface, and Japanese calligraphy for the line work of the levels. You can see the brush work stuff I'm talking about in a level map below: Thanks for asking
In the App Store December 12th PANGOLIN has a release date! It's Wednesday, December 12th. That's 12/12/12. We'll probably release it at 12:12am... that is, if the world is still around (apparently the earth as we know it will end that day according to the ancient Mayan calendar).

I just wanted to give one final update to anyone following this thread. We've got a bunch of great reviews: ---------- Pangolin is easily one of the best mobile games of the year. Short and Sweet Reviews "Quite simply astounding. Sure, you've played games like Angry Birds and Stickman Golf. It's time for something new and this might be it." Alex's iOS Reviews Sonic the Hedgehog would be jealous... extremely well crafted and addictive. Indie Love Very different, very entertaining. JayIsGames A loveable iOS anti-platformer. Independent Gaming Simply beautiful... keeps you coming back. The Indie Developer ---------- We also have 47 ratings in the App Store... all of which are 5 stars. Check it out if you haven't! It's free to try!
This thread is in the upcoming games forum. Since the game is released, you should make a post in the iPhone and iPod touch games forum. That gets a bit more attention than this forum too, I think. [edit] Nevermind I just saw the other thread. I posted my positive impressions there as well. This is a beautiful game! Unfortunately these kind of physics puzzlers really aren't for me (I am one of those rare people who doesn't get Angry Birds either), but I love the style and the game seems very polished. People who like this style of physics puzzlers should definitely try this game.
Apologies... for some reason, this thread got more attention than our thread in the iPhone and iPod touch forum. I just wanted to give a quick update on the off chance anyone subscribed to this thread. This will be our last post in this thread... all conversation will be moved here. Thanks so much for the kind words!
Thanks! We stuck an iPhone in a hole of the brim of a baseball hat to get the footage. Glad you like it.
