Tried to post link, but above beat me to it. The hd version is much much much better than the sd version if anyone cares. If you have an ipad, get it. Osmos is another game that plays much better onthe ipad. The bigger field really makes a difference. Filing Cabinet Well-Known Member Aug 20, 2011 997 0 16 #4 Filing Cabinet, Oct 12, 2012 This is a fantastic game. Don't miss it when it's free but it's well worth the original price as well. I hope they make a part 2. dclose Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,866 0 0 #5 dclose, Oct 12, 2012 Now with giant whopper ads between every level. Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #6 Royce, Oct 12, 2012 So it's true they put ads in all their games? I guess this is another game I can't update now I wish Apple would create a do not update feature so I could still download all updates and just skip apps I specifically flag. Filing Cabinet Well-Known Member Aug 20, 2011 997 0 16 #7 Filing Cabinet, Oct 12, 2012 Oh crap... Why can't they just release another version with ads and leave the choice upto users (and not screw over people who paid for the game) Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #8 Connector, Oct 12, 2012 Are you serious this game as ads now? Royce Well-Known Member Mar 22, 2011 4,239 179 63 #10 Royce, Oct 12, 2012 Word on the streets is MumboJumbo put ads in all their games. I'm not sure because I won't update any now. Gunlock Well-Known Member Dec 13, 2010 472 0 16 #11 Gunlock, Oct 12, 2012 Yep, I have ads even after starting the app in the menus, and between the levels of course. MAN I hate when a paid app gets that bonus in an update without any warning (I bought the game a looong time ago, and since then it was always installed on my 3GS). The only good thing about it is now I know NOT to update all the Luxor games I have, and all the other Mumbo Jumbo games as well. I'll have to think twice before buying anything from this dev in the future... I'm not sure. But that's VERY disappointing to hear... Glowfish is one of my all time favorite iOS games. **edit** yeah... deleted this on my iPhone and re installed, and I've got ads now. Scared to check it out on my iPad, though the free iPhone version has been removed, and the HD lite version has not, so that might be a good sign for the HD version... Still upsetting. dclose Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,866 0 0 #14 dclose, Oct 12, 2012 I see you got ads later, but I had the same setup, with multiple Mumbo Jumbo games -- purchased at full price, ages ago -- pre-installed too, and I still get ads in all of them. When I emailed Mumbo Jumbo on Facebook about it, I got back the canned response that "Our second goal is to support the gaming world and its developers by cross-promoting our games and games by fellow developers." So the ads are intentional and are staying. What they call cross-promotion, I'm finding to be an abusive insertion of freemium junk that demands a response and is not easily dismissed. I've been getting pop-ups, that often don't go away, or reappear quickly, for freemium gambling apps in their games, which is definitely NOT family-friendly, nor anywhere near similar to what Glowfish, for example, offers the casual gamer in game experience. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #15 awp69, Oct 12, 2012 Yikes. It's sad to see things like this continuing to happen and Mumbo Jumbo is far from the only offender. I still don't understand why these devs don't just keep things clear-cut and release a different, freemium app. But at the same time, I'm sure when they do these ad deals, they're probably selling their built-in base of customers so they're ultimately still looking at the bottom line and not caring about the customer experience -- at least those that previous supported them with real money. What they aren't looking at is the future. All those people who DID support them and bought their games are going to second guess any future purchases from said dev or publisher. Ughhh...not a pretty picture. chris1a Well-Known Member Mar 10, 2010 1,335 1 0 Sweden #16 chris1a, Oct 12, 2012 *adds Mumbo Jumbo to the official TouchArcade shit list* Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #17 Connector, Oct 12, 2012 Last edited: Oct 12, 2012 Edit: SV, don't delete on your ipad!!!! Read my post here. I played a little to see if it did have ads, and I am starting to think like SV, in that it is not for early adopters like us. I have a very small ad for glowfish 2 on the main menu, but nothing else. Between screens levels, not getting ads. So maybe SV is right, only the people getting it free or early adopters that had deleted it before to save disk space are affected. If so, I will be halfway affected since it is not on myiphone anymore, but don't really care cause this game plays Soooooooo much better on my new ipad even with non ipad retina graphics. Would never play it on my iphone anymore anyway. So I hope SV is right, hopefully us early adopters aren't getting screwed again, cause it just ain't right for us to pay and then they sneek ads or iaps in much later. Sorry if you all that get it free have ads, I hate them too. dclose Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,866 0 0 #18 dclose, Oct 12, 2012 I've owned Glowfish since the day after it was originally released, and it's been installed on my device ever since and never removed from that device. I am getting ads. Lots of ads. Ditto with Glowfish HD, which I've owned for as long as I've had my retina iPad. So something else is going on here, and it's not about whether or not you're an early adopter. I've played both versions about half-way through. Connector Well-Known Member May 6, 2012 15,512 1 0 In the Chatroom http://thechatroom.freeforums.net/ #19 Connector, Oct 12, 2012 Are you talking about that little ad in the top left corner that says Glowfish 2? I know it's an ad and all, but it is pretty unobtrusive and small. Played though one state, got no ads then between stages. Or you all talking about levels like meaning worlds? I didn't play much, so can't really say, but I completed a stage on the hd version, no ads for me. During the game itself, you get no ads right? While I hate ads that pop up during gameplay, ads on the menu or between stages, I can somewhat live with. Don't like it at all cause I paid for it, but if it is displayed while playing, then yeah, they should be shot. But SV was like me too in that we didn't see ads, why would that be? dclose Well-Known Member Nov 20, 2011 1,866 0 0 #20 dclose, Oct 12, 2012 Last edited: Oct 13, 2012 Hmm, the ads in my HD version disappeared today. When it popped up last night I assumed they were there to stay, as they're certainly still there in all MJ's Luxor variations (which I've also had installed on my devices for a long time too). Hopefully it was a glitch and not something they're testing for adding to Glowfish too (especially now that they seem to be giving it away regularly). The ads are still there in all the Luxor games though. Luxor apps that I've had installed a long time, so early adoption sure doesn't appear to have made a difference there! And I don't mean little ones in the corner. I mean pop-ups between levels, that say, "Do you want to download this game now?" and you must answer yes or no before continuing. And if you say no, you often get offered 2 or 3 more before it finally lets you play a level! Very intrusive. You can't miss 'em! Edit: the ads are definitely there on the non-HD version of Glowfish, despite this game also being on my device since the beginning of time. Giant pop-up ad for Zombie Bowl-O-Rama asking if I want to GET IT and a tiny No Thanks button immediately above but easy to miss so you get knocked out of the game and into the app store. So yeah, Mumbo Jumbo, YOU SUCK! It seems it's just a matter of time before the ads are permanently there for the HD version too. Edit 2: They're back on the HD version now too, so it seems that it was just a glitch (perhaps the ad connection was down) that they did not appear this afternoon. The ads are back in full force for my HD version of GlowFish. Time to hit that delete button and never buy Mumbo Jumbo again, for me! (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
