Hi folks The first work in progress screenshots of Monkey Tennis have just been published on appdope.com. The full game details have not been confirmed, but are set to include knockout, championship and league modes, and also a set of unique challenges. There will be about 30 different monkeys to play with, all with different attributes. The game will hopefully be released at the beginning of May, and will have a starting price of $0.99
Monkeys. Tennis. Sauce Digital. Hmm, I'm going to have to think about it... [1 second later] Done! It's a must buy!
Hey Mattll glad you like the look of the game. You can play lobs and smashes, but not special ones. The game involves monkeys, but aims to feel like you are really flicking the ball over the net, rather than pressing a button to do it.
to move your player, you swipe in any direction. Then when the ball is close enough you can swipe to play a shot - the direction and power of which is determined by the direction and speed of the swipe.
I love tennis games but have yet to find one I like on the iphone. I will pick this up when it is released.
Yeah, there are a few things left to polish - here are some newer shots of of the game. They show a new net, some of the courts and monkeys. (ive added them at the top of the thread too)
Thanks guys, i appreciate the support. I'm now thinking ahead to the next game as Monkey Tennis is nearly done, so let me know if there is something you'd love to see me make. morgan
let the countdown begin... I submitted Monkey Tennis on friday night, but i will be away on honeymoon until 10th May - so hopefully you will see it pop up on iTunes then. cheers Morgan
Morgan... Congrats on the marriage!!! I am certainly looking forward to Monkey Tennis dropping anytime now As to what next? My suggestion is to carry on with the Touch Sports Soccer and Monkey Tennis fashion and maybe find a unique and realistic "feel" for a light-hearted and cartoonish baseball game. I liked Super Mario Baseball..
I just started a thread in the Game Release section. It will probably get buried with all the high-profile releases, but I hope it doesn't. Just spent half-an-hour with it, and I love everything about it: the intuitive controls, the ridiculous amount of content for a $.99 game, even the adorably clunky animation of the monkeys running, the fact that the monkeys make, well, monkey screeches when they screw up. It took me about 2 (short) matches to fully "get" the swipe system, but once I did it's just freaking natural. As far as I'm concerned, it's the best tennis game on the platform. With or without monkeys.
