Anyways, on this one, please post your top 5 favorite "hardcore" or "console quality" iOS games that you want to be included in the poll. This poll is to help me decide what games to play in my podcast next (links in sig) so I'd really appreciate it if you guys contributed! Shadowgun, star front, cod zombies, land air sea warfare, crazy hedgy, backstab, dark meadow, bards tale, world of goo, etc.
Most of the games listed above are "Main Stream" games... I don't think they are hardcore at all. IMO hardcore games are: TheImpossibleGame GravityGuy Dungeon Raid Tobe&Friends Hookshot Escape ...
How about some shmup love? Easily one of the hardest core genres on iOS. Dariusburst SP and everything by Cave (DDPRHD if you need a specific Cave nominee). I think maybe the term "console quality" is throwing people off. Most of the really hardcore games I can think of are graphically unimpressive (like many strategy and puzzle titles) or retro (like many hardcore platformers and shooters). Or maybe people just have different definitions of hardcore. And I'm sorry but I can't help myself. You can't nominate IB unless you also want to give fruit ninja a nod since the differences are negligible aside from graphics
Absolutely right. And yes, CAVE is da boss! Fruit Ninja is hardcore as well , if you aiming for 1000 point in arcade mode.
1. Bike Baron - If you say Bike Baron is not a hardcore game, by extension you are saying Trials is not a hardcore game either 2. Espgaluda - My fav shmup 3. NOVA 3 (I havent played this one yet, but assuming it is "more hardcore" than NOVA 2, it'd make it in my list. 4. Aquaria 5. Real Racing 2 6. Run Kitty Run. Now Platforming is my favourite genre, and I have a lot of favourites there. Run Kitty Run just happens to be my current platforming love.
I bought nova 3 and I've played half the campaign and played quite a bit of multiplayer. Will admit it's probably the best shooter from gameloft. The story has depth, always someone to send flying away (exposing sexy ragdoll effects) away via shotgun to face, well done graphics and great overall experience on my original iPad. The multiplayer is smooth and intense. First game I played on this old school iPad I got 65+ kills with 11ish deaths so trust me when I say it runs nice even with 11 other walking targets. Also worth noting, I got over 1500 "credits" from that one game and the most expensive item in the shop was a jet pack for 9600, so it doesnt seem to be insane with IAPs. If I was stranded with an iPad with only 5 games they would be as follows: Nova 3 Kingdom Rush (IMO best tower defense) The 7th Guest: Infection or Galcon Fusion (simple but very intense stratagy games) Infinity Blade 2 or Dark Meadow (enthralling fighting-RPGs) Supersonic (super fast paced tube racer with deadly obstacles, also plays your music like Beat Hazard [also a good game])

Angry Birds Fruit Ninja Draw Something ... oh and the Modern Combat Series. Kind of ironic considering the fact that the game they took inspiration from (CoD) is considered a casual game amongst many console/PC gamers.
Hmm.. So according to the suggested games in this thread, pretty much every game counts as Hardcore.. Possible only Smurfs is except??
