Default iPod pausing music randomly

For the past week or so, I haven't used my iPod 5th generation (running iOS 6.1.3) and when I got back to using it on Friday, it was quite screwed up. To start, the music (which I listen to very often) pauses itself at random times and it's very annoying. It seems to happen mainly when I turn the device off or play the music while I do something else on the iPod. Also, Siri has been coming up when I don't press and hold the home button, but the music randomly pausing itself (and also starting back up by itself) has been the recurring problem. Spotify also pauses itself, and I'm not sure if it's a problem with my headphones or my iDevice. I've tried a restore to factory settings and the problem persists. Do I need to get Apple involved?
