Go to the top of the top grossing section and you will see an app called enjoy sleep. It has 50 reviews 5 star but no written reviews. I've never heard of the app and all of the sudden it's the top grossing. How did this happen I doubt anyone actually bought it?
Looks like they did the trick of setting their price really high, buying a bunch of copies, and then changing the price back. As you can see in AppShopper, they raised their price to $299.99 today, then dropped it again. http://appshopper.com/utilities/enjoysleep This has been happening quite a bit recently.
I really get the feeling that the top grossing list is something for devs to use, and not as much something that users look at. I'm *some* of them look at it, but it just doesn't seem that important to me.
How can it possibly make sense for codes to contribute to sales numbers, especially the top grossing chart?
The codes were just for the star ratings, not the chart figures, although they probably used the same accounts to make the purchases.
Hmmm Another interesting fact, is if you look the name of the developer he is probably in some asian country. It might be related to the incident of several days ago about those hacked iTunes account and those massive purchase of books apps. Which could make sense, as the dev. raise the price, use those hack accounts buy his apps at higher price then lower it again. Sad to see those things
