Dunno if that affects those who have paid for it though. I'd hope not but wouldn't be surprised either. Gamer1st Well-Known Member Mar 19, 2013 775 0 0 None. But I dream about being able to work again. USA #6 Gamer1st, May 7, 2014 Looks like Ill be deleting this one. Not due to ads or other changes, because it still wants too much free space, (over 400mb) on my iPad to run. I don't know why this one is such a resource hog. TheFrost Well-Known Member Nov 18, 2010 5,772 0 0 #7 TheFrost, May 7, 2014 Its the same game, and if you "restore your purchases" it removes the ads. Also, everyone who previously bought the game gets the Golden Axe IAP for free. I already had it. -A dollar for this game plus another dollar for the coin doubler is no brainer purchase to me-. All this from the developer, Tree Fortress. anarchy in the app store Member Jan 30, 2014 15 0 0 #8 anarchy in the app store, May 7, 2014 Dang it, shouldn't have bought the gold axe... SirFobos Well-Known Member Aug 10, 2012 113 0 0 Police Officer Kansas City #10 SirFobos, May 7, 2014 I previously bought the game on release day. Now that it's gone free I have ads. Tried the restore purchases route, still adds, and no free golden axe, it try's to charge me for it (verified as it asks me to enter payment info). Very disappointed to be burned by another paid game going free. I understand the idea behind it but it's the ads in my game now that is what I'm most upset about. But a transformation to freemium has me annoyed, simply because it's a dishonest and greedy trend that I'm tired of seeing and supporting. Developers are trying to have it both ways by releasing a premium game with an upfront cost, and then changing it to freemium when premium sales drop, in order to maximize their profits. smegly Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2012 990 0 0 NY, NY #12 smegly, May 7, 2014 Actually, the Golden Axe-Lute is 2.99, it looks like people who get it now are paying more than those who bought the game at .99 and apparently got the doubler at another .99 or just got the game and now have both for a total of .99. I'm guessing, but maybe the reason some people can't "restore" the axe is because the feature might only apply to people who got the game during a specific version where, again a guess, they altered the price of the doubler. Also, I wouldn't really say developers are necessarily greedy for starting paid and going free; it's likely more a case of them being curious of what will happen or just trying to resurrect their sales. Furthermore, I think it's usually a bad business idea to become free compared to starting free for a little while and then just staying paid. That said, they didn't really do it that way here. If you can look past feelings of indignation and sweeping generalizations about IAP, they've essentially split the game experience into a Lite version with ads and a premium version which is accessible with a minimum purchase of 1.99 for 10k coins. Personally, I overlooked this, and if it hadn't gone free, I wouldn't have tried it an then proceeded to buy the doubler. I guess time will tell whether the ads for people who bought the game previously are an error or whether it was actually a bad choice. But even if it is the latter, the people with the ads still payed less than the new players who don't have them. bcredonk Well-Known Member Apr 8, 2014 74 0 0 #13 bcredonk, May 8, 2014 Had a feeling this was too good to be totally true... Still gonna give it a whirl though. trazer Well-Known Member Nov 14, 2013 141 0 0 #14 trazer, May 8, 2014 Wow, what horrible ads. I like the game and would have purchased it and the doubler had I ever been able to try it before. Now for $3 I guess I still could, but the ads leave a bad taste and I'm not going to support that. Disappointed to say the least. When an ad pops up I just close the game and reopen it for now, I'm not gettin the hits for this lol. smegly Well-Known Member Mar 27, 2012 990 0 0 NY, NY #15 smegly, May 8, 2014 They're 5 second ads, but feel free to make a spectacle about the whole thing anyway. cowabungadude Member May 8, 2012 16 0 0 #16 cowabungadude, May 8, 2014 Are there instruction on how to do this? I have weblock so if there are other short ads then I don't see those. I'd be okay with the price to remove ads an doubler staying the same, but raising prices, and doing ads at the same tine seems rough to me anyway.
